    Blisters from Boots HELP

OK, my daughter wanted the boots with the sock attached in the worst way. She saved up her money and paid the difference, and sadly the boots are giving her the worst blisters ever!

Anyone with tried and true experience to help preventing them or keeping them at bay?
Will this continue or can this be attributed to a break in period??

I'm hoping it gets better - although she's not complaining about it, just initially.

ALSO ... does anyone recommend boots for a narrow foot?? I know she loves the Tiempos but I was told to go with the Mercurials instead. She's never gotten blisters from the leather shoes, just the synthetic ( we tried turf and indoors). However, she has to tie the Tiempos super tight causing a bubble up by the laces by the toe box.

Who knew feet could cause so much trouble!!

    Thanks for any help/advice!

The blisters are likely because that area isn't accustomed to so much irritation. My kids have never liked that style so I can't offer a solution other than sock layers or possibly taping the area up - anything to give another layer of pretection. Can you possibly just cut the sock out? And what brand are they? It might be worth a call to the manufacturer - send them a pic of her blisters.

Overall we've found Nike to be the best for narrower feet.

Blisters are caused by friction. Sick layers are no help and can make things worse. Get moleskin to protect the area that is irritated.

Tape the blister, then lots of Vaseline on the outside of her sock will reduce friction and help soften the boot. It works.

Never buy Nike, anything as it relates to soccer. Complete crap. Pretty colors but quality and fix are just horrible. Good quality begins and ends with Puma and Addias.

Are the boots synthetic or leather? Vasoline is a petroleum product, does it work (is it good for) synthetic fabric?

The main function is to reduce friction between the boot, sock and foot. Use a lot of it for best results.

Agree Nike bad for quality but Adidas cleats give one of my kids terrible blisters. Each foot/kid has a different foot.

Mole skin with layer of ointment or
                  Tincture of benzoin
It will turn your sock a funny color but a thin layer will stop the friction . Used with military boots after they drained a blister and it worked. Some people say it feels like it warms the skin so try on a small area.

Blisters are because the shoe and sock don't fit properly.

Or the foot gets damp (usually via sweat or water bottle spillage) that is why a sticky substance-barrier and moisture wicking sock for sweaty feet is important.

My anecdotal experience as a hockey player tells me that Coach Wooden is 100% right, because my feet sweating was a constant, blisters weren't. Tight socks in a tight skate or else.

Nike has the narrowest last, so they fit narrower feet better.

Benzoin tincture will help toughen up the area. It's what rock climbers use to condition their finger tips.

Short term, moleskin around the blister. I recommend cutting a piece that is slightly larger than the blister, and attach that to a larger piece (say, a dime-sized circle stuck to an inch size piece). Then, stick the entire contraption to the foot. Doing it this way keeps you from ripping the blister off later when you take the moleskin off.

Extra sock or Dr. Scholl's inserts will help take up the extra room in the boot. I recommend also always wearing the same sock combination, so the boots break in consistently.

Powder the feet to help keep the moisture down.

For years my son has been an Adidas kid. They always just seem to fit his foot better. He's had the odd pair of Nikes, but always goes back to Adidas. And he could NEVER fit into Tiempos, they were always too wide. However, he just finished a season with some Tiempos, that fit him great.

All that being said, he regularly double socks, because he likes his cleats very snug on his foot. Moisture wicking for the layer in the cleat. And, the double socking can also help during games on turf in high summer, when the kids' feet are just burning up.
