For a non-MLS DAP, if it's free, that just means the non-DAP teams are paying for it.

If they do it right ( and most are too lazy to do it right) sponsorships - both corporate and individual (wealthy donors) should take care of the bulk of the funding. The bolts have that potential ( many rich corporate sponsors and donors in the area) but the mgt is too corrupt and/or lazy to do it.

Corporations aren't into sponsoring costly soccer teams. You may get local businesses - which is fine and can help defray costs - but you won't get big companies. They have entire groups of people that do nothing but manage charitable spending

If you ask me all of kids that played DAP or the highly regarded GPS NPL and then ended up going D3 are epic fails for the clubs involved.
