As long as they have kids to fill the rosters, the more clubs and hence the more kids playing soccer, the better. I know it dilutes the top players into multiple teams, but I would rather have allot of good players than just a couple great ones right now. Those good players will transform this country into having a true soccer culture, and they will also turn into being much better coaches for our youth of tomorrow. Just my way of thinking.

I agree WUP is in trouble too. They have been for quite some time and haven't been able to figure their way out of the mess and now it's too late. Looks like CFC, GPS and NEFC west will be the desired clubs in the area.

Let me preface this by saying I am by no means a WUP supporter. And by supporter I mean not a coach nor does my child play for them. That said, this site and in particular this thread cracks me up. The thread started by bashing Stars West, than on to RL and AS, back to Stars West and RL now on to WUP. If I were to believe anything that was posted in this thread I would think that every program is about to crumble. Agendas, agendas agendas.

RL may very well be jumping ship but he has to be political about it. Say what you want about his ability to provide coaches to teams but the guy can put some really good teams together. Just look at the Stars West girls results. The boys never stood a chance once GPS came in as they were taking whomever WUP wasn't getting. WUP is fine. They have the professional team that is backed by the Portuguese club and essentially the entire town. With that the WUP program still can produces a team or two in every age group. Some successful some not, regardless of people jumping ship or not. They likely will never be the top program in the state, but will occasionally produce some great players and some great teams. That is what happens when you are a smaller fish in a big pond.

The landscape of youth soccer has changed dramatically over the years and specifically over the last 2-3 years. Its a money grab for larger clubs. I don't care what alphabet you have as a name brand its a money grab. Parents need to smarten up and realize this. OK, off my soapbox.

RL is a good coach. He develops girls and teams. He is spread too thin but still makes it work most of the time. Whatever name you put on his shirt, your kid would be lucky to have him.

Kids need their coach during games too, not some pops who hasn't a clue about soccer. I do not agree. He needs to hire a dedicated coach for each team period.

I agree. He may be a good coach but you're not a good coach if you're not there or miss half of the trainings. If he can limit himself to two teams and ensure he wont miss any games or trainings due to other team conflicts, than yes he is a good coach.

Hiring dedicated coaches for each team that are avg at best doesn't make a great program. I'd prefer my kid get coached by RL and he miss some games or practices in a season. Development is the idea and not wins and losses. If he could hire quality for every team without prices skyrocketing I'd be all in but I've seen the quality in the west, not going to happen Good players make good teams that should be able to win games regardless of the adult on the sideline. He attends all games that matter (whatever that means) and where his presence is necessary.

So then just say RL hirers quality coaches. Your price goes up and you are not happy. Then when you get one of the teams he does not coach, you are not happy. He coaches the u-littles because he has a knack for that and the olders are not happy. So he coaches the olders and the u-littles do not develop so th club starts to suck and you are not happy. See where this is going?

Who can't seem to understand that Stars West are no longer an option, they lost all their boys teams, lost two of their best girls team. They are not a sinking ship this ship as SUNK
