Just imagine if all these teams could merge into one.

Hoping they merge into one is a little over the top for such a large area with so many kids but 3-4 with all USFF licensed coaches and a minimum number of daddy coaches would sure benefit the whole area.

I agree that daddy coaches should not be allowed but if these clubs merged we'd end up with A, B, C, D, E, F, G teams and so on think about it. Ussf should mandate that all club soccer coaches be licensed and put a cap on the number of clubs per region. It's getting crazy. Nothing more than pay to play and for many teams no different than recreational soccer only with a huge price tag.

Or recreational soccer with a bargain price tag that's called "premier".

Is GPS Black Rock FC invitation only?

Why cap it? I don't see how that makes sense. Especially when some of these C and D teams can beat the smaller clubs A teams.

That idea is crazy. How would USSF determine how many clubs could be in a region? Why not let the market dictate that? Is that what this country is all about?

That's why a change is needed. In your answer the problem is exposed. C&D teams can beat a A team. None should be in a club format but a travel town team.

The market is deciding and dictating in the wrong path. Parents lining up to pay good money for a kid to play on a clubs 3'rd or 4'th team. This is not only a western mass problem. Some big clubs have 18 teams in a u12/u13 age group. My argument is if these kids dropped club and returned to town travel it would be beneficial to them and us the parents. No reason to drive to RI for a game with a D or C child. None

Yes. It was set up so prep school kids could showcase and do club soccer with a minimum of conflicts with school.

It would work fine if the kids in town travel soccer now who just whack the ball down the field and have no dribble skills to speak of and don't understand the game (and don't have a desire to understand the game) would drop to rec / in-town soccer. But when you have these kids playing alongside kids who are better or kids who are pretty good who may not be able to make the first or second team club, the better kids and their parents want something better. Everyone wants their kid to play on a better team or with his/her buddies while they ignore the fact that Johnny is best off playing at the level he's at now.

While I think all the clubs with only one or two teams should fold/merge into another club. My argument for allowing allot of clubs is that years ago my son used to be a bubble player on his Town Travel A team. At U11 he tried out for WUP, didn't make a team, but made it on one of the smaller Maple clubs teams. The Maple coach also coached a competing Town Travel team. The training wasn't any better or worse then his own Town Travel team, but the extra training and touches helped allot. Fast forward a couple years and now there is only one player on his Town Travel team that is better than him and he also plays on a good NEP team, where he is a strong contributor. Training 4 days and 2 games a week have been great for his development. That would not of happened if he only played Town Travel.

Not worth the drive to central CT. FSA is closer and has ECNL, but a weak program at best. Stay in MA.

What league did they join? Read online they trounced Oakwood DAP, and often field one of the best teams in the Northeast, so wondering how they will find competitive league games.

Also, doesn't seem fair to have an invitation only team of extremely skilled foreigners, recruited to play prep soccer, competing against local DAP teams that only draw from limited geographical areas.
