Yes this is a thread about MPS with a 196 posts. Probably very few MPS parents are posting because most of them could really care less what other clubs or teams think. MPS may not have been as successful as hoped at the State Cup, but we were there and obiviously leaving an impression with the amount of postings. We will continue to support our team and win or lose refrain from negative comments concerning our opponents.

Originally posted by AnonymousYes, this thread is about MPS and their impact on MAPLE clubs, so in order to be able to analyze that impact, they have to be compared to other clubs. The real reason those additional numbers aren't given is because that wouldn't support this posters point and probably expose a lot of other clubs inabilities to advance in State Cups.
Originally posted by AnonymousI just checked and in all the brackets so far not one MPS team has advanced to the semis. It sure is a good thing this doesn't matter to the folks at MPS. Then again, if it really doesn't matter, why are they competing?
Hmm...lets see. Glancing thru the girls side up thru the RR...I dont see too many Puma teams...Select teams...Nova...Tri Valley. Yup...not a good showing up thru the RR. But look....an MPS team in each RR...
But lets simply continue to present only the facts tha help you make your biased points.

From what I've read I didnt see anything saying 'it didnt matter if they won or lost.' To the posters point above, lets have a full run down on all clubs. This forum started out intelligently about 1 clubs impact has had and as usual, turned into a bashing. If we are going to bash a club about their State Cup results then have some p!lls and throw them all out there and we can all go to town about how horrible they are.

I do not understand MPS. You are right.
However, this is one of the first honest points you’ve made. You obviously don’t understand MPS. Admitting that is a big first step and a brave statement to make. MPS has now become a huge club and it’s safe to say that all of the parents and players know a fair amount about soccer and soccer clubs. They know about MAPLE, State Cups and all other tournaments.
They know what MPS says about themselves and what others like yourself say about MPS.
They know the results from State Cup.
They know all about what MPS and other clubs charge.
They have heard all of the negative stuff over and over and over again.
But still they chose MPS.
But still more and more players are trying to join.
And, despite all of the criticism from the well know personalities on Touchline, MPS has become the State’s largest soccer club.
If you really want to understand MPS:
Instead of investing so much time in criticizing MPS, why not try to figure out what they are doing right? Next, figure out why the most vocal critics come from a very small number of competing Clubs. The answers to those 2 questions will give you that understanding you’re missing and just might be helpful in any case.

I had the chance to see pieces of three or four MPS games this weekend. The thing that struck me isn't the purported differences between MPS and the MAPLE clubs but the similarities. I saw no appreciable difference in the style of play. Certainly you wouldn't watch the games and think they were doing anything technically or tactically different. The parents seemed nice enough. Most were very quiet but some more vocal - a lot like the parents of the teams they were playing. I didn't hear any crazy yelling your screaming from their coaches, but I didn't hear any from the opponents either. The teams were agressive and not afriad to be physical but I didn't see anything dirty or illegal from their play. They warmed up and cooled down like their opponents. Sure they lost more than they won but except for one game I saw their teams were very competitive with some of the top seeds in the tourney. In the end I just don't get what all the fuss was about. The kids seemed happy enough, the parents seemed happy enough but then again so did everyone else.
