If a team is rated at 200, but really should be rated 800 (through the addition of players, or a different coach, or a mistaken assigment by me for an initial rating for the team), their rating would probably increase about 200 points in the first 6 games. But it would take about 40 games for them to be consistently rated at 800.
But there are a lot of assumptions that go into this, none of them unassailable. The primary assumption is that they will get to regularly play teams rated 400 to 600 points higher than they are. That's pretty unlikely (though not impossible: in the Coast League and LIJSL, the powers-that-be can promote a team by several divisions if it seems warranted).
You gain big points by beating teams rated a lot higher than you. If you just play teams rated the same as you, the most number of points you can gain in a single game is 38 points if you beat them 6-0. But as you gain ratings points, you gain fewer points by beating the same team 6-0. For instance, if you have increased your rating to 200 points higher than the teams you regularly play, the same 6-0 win will only gain you 18 points. At a 400 point difference, it's only a gain of 7 points. And at a 900 point difference, you don't gain any points.
When I finally get up the website on this stuff, there will be lots more information on how this works.
