Go read the Laws of the Game. Goalie has to stay on the line until the ball is kicked. The goalie came off the line throughout the penalty kicks. Total disregard for the rules, and the referee standing right on the line let her do it. Not sure why she was even there because that's the only thing she should have been looking for. It's a travesty for the game of soccer to miss that call, which should have been a yellow card issued to the goalie on the very first kick. After playing 90 minutes, 2 overtimes, and lose in that fashion is ridiculous.

Cmon most keepers do it. Even with leaVing early keepers have a low success rate

Research has shown that the success rate of each penalty kick

      First kick 86.6%
      Second kick 81.7%
      Third kick 79.3%
      Fourth kick 72.5%
      Fifth kick 80%
      ‘Sudden death’ kicks 64.3%

      Save us your righteous indignation

I'm not a student of the game like some, but the way I see it Brian is completely overrated. I had a problem with Ellis during the WC with her line ups, snd player placement. Dunn should have been in the game the whole time.

What's not true? Those stats correspond to other studies that the success rate on PKs are 85%

Don't blame the keeper for moving ..blame the shooter for missing. It's really an unfair advantage for the shooter even with a keeper moving.

              Morgan Brian is overrated?

              -four year starter at UVA
-Two time college player of the year
              - earned her first USWNT cap at 20
              - started in first World Cup at 22
              - team mates say she has the best soccer mind on the team.

Perhaps they know better than an admitted non student of the game. I think we need more Morgan Brian's.

What the guy wanted to say, but didn't, is that she doesn't look very big, doesn't seem super quick or have track speed, and doesn't overwhelm her opponents with strength. Since he doesn't understand the way the game works at the elite levels and can't see the subtlety in her game, he has no choice but to call her overrated. I'm surprised he didn't add that his own daughter might be faster and stronger than Brian.

It's not unlike if you were to run into Andres Iniesta on a street corner. Never in a million years would you suspect he is one of the world's best central midfielders.

By the way, hope his knee is OK.

So what the USWNT needs is more smallish, slow, weak players? Einstein has a great mind, but wouldn't be an elite soccer player. Maybe she should coach.

International play is very different than college play, or at least it should be. I think that's one of the problems with the WNT - they play like a college team and boot the ball long. I have plenty of friends who I think are excellent soccer brains, but lack other aspects in order to be successful players, especially at the international level. Nothing against Brian. She's a good player and deserves to be on the roster.

No one on this team should be untouchable beyond Dunn, Pugh and Lloyd.

For everyone else, earn your spot. Ellis should go. Solo ain't worth it if she isn't winning.

This team has been allowed to pick their coach (Sermanni didn't kiss ass), and pick their teams in the pro league. Time to let the egos deflate. They were the top team in the world and got beat by a vastly inferior team. Blow it up.

She was on the roster at age 20 playing one of the most demanding position. She's the quarterback for the team who plays a very technical game. She doesn't think she knows the game ... Her team mates have said that she does. A big difference

I will give Ellis credit in that she's been changing the style and personnel. Which is not an easy thing to do. Frankly it's too close to the last competition to take root.

If you blow it up, that's fine but Brian is one of the building blocks. At age 23 she's got a long runway of great play
