If you want to blame her teammates for fouling in dangerous areas, then fine, but after that it's the keeper's responsibility to make the saves. Solo blew it big time on the first one, and misjudged the flight of the ball on the second one. Had she judged it better, she should have been able to punch it clear. But she didn't.

The only critical mistakes on those two goals (other than the fouls that created the set pieces) were in fact Solo's.

I said the first one was terrible (even a 9 year old GK knows to keep your legs together). The 2nd one we differ. Again, I'm no fan but keepers are too often blamed for losses. People see a 3v1 break away and don't understand why the GK can't stop the shot. I also thought she has seemed nervous/edgy of late. Last thing you want is a keeper who is having a rough week in the net.

Kudos to Sweden for getting it done in PKs. Soccer can be a cruel game, as shots and shots on goal don't necessarily translate into wins.

Let the inquest begin. First allowing Columbia back into the game in group play, now a shocking loss in the quarter final. Time for Ellis to go. Wonder if Sundhage would consider coming back? ;)

USWNT should practice what they preach. If that is the style of play US Soccer to trying to develop through GDAP this country is in trouble. Better athletes lacking creativity and tactical know how to breakdown Sweden's defense. Awful game to watch.

US called for a legit goal a minute before that, so it all evens out.

As any team (club or national team) that sits back and plays counterattacking soccer, the US had very little creativity in the final third. Lofting balls over the top is not going to work, especially when you have Morgan up top and not Wambach. Give Sweden credit for packing it in and not allowing the US space to penetrate. Ugly game of soccer.

USWNT style of play mirrors that of most U.S. colleges, most high schools, and many ECNL teams: boot it long to the fast kid who shoots or lobs it into the box and maybe somebody is there.

GDA is not going to change that.

The US were lucky in the World Cup last year. Johnston should have been given a red card against Germany and they should have lost that game. Ellis is horrendous

Agreed this was a painful game to watch. US was lucky to even get the game to OT. Their goal was due to a bad bounce off of the Swedish defender.

Overall a poor Olympic performance and while they won the last WC, let's remember they were lucky to even get to the finals.

A new coach and new system is needed. 1v1 and long balling it is not going to get it done at this level on a consistent basis. Need more of Dunn, Pugh, Press, Lloyd and much less of Rapinoe, Morgan and Heath.
