Perhaps Columbia was good too. Best of luck to the ROTW

Should have rested her like they did Morgan and Heath. Need to get someone else some experience

Good move by Ellis taking Rapinoe out when she did

Agreed - Solo can't play forever and is reaching the end of her shelf life. We outshot them 16-3 so it seemed a good time to play someone else.

Solo bears responsibility for both goals that were allowed yesterday. Question is whether Ellis would ever have the guts to bench Solo and start Naeher. My bet is not this time. But if Solo has any more shaky moments, it will be incumbent on Ellis to make a move. If she doesn't, shame on her.

The time to play Naeher was yesterday. Colombia had never beaten the US or even scored a goal. Ellis is very loyal to the old timers and it has not hurt the team.....yet

Regardless of how folks feel about Solo on a personal note......you would advocate benching her after ONE subpar game?? This after bailing the team out in the prior game against France? Get a grip.

You were probably wanting to stick with Scurry in 2007?

I bet you lose lots of money short timing the market, but you'll run around telling everyone when you have a good day...

New to discussion - I could care less about her white trash arrest. But personally I feel she's isn't performing as well as she has in the past. Partly that's because she doesn't get tested very often (one way to get good as a keeper is play on a cra**y team because you'll get shot on all day long). The mens' team relied on Howard forever as well (also justifiably so). But at some point you have to start giving the new blood at least some exposure to these higher stakes games so when the old guys and gals move on it isn't all new to new keeper. Perhaps the high visibility Olympics isn't where to do that but at some point all athletes have to hang it up. GK is brutal on the body too.

I bet you blame the keeper on your kids' teams for losses as well? You do realize with most goals there are multiple mistakes by the field players that lead to each shot on goal right? I'm not a huge fan of hers....but it's rare that you can lay all the blame of goals on the keeper. I agree she didn't play well and that free kick between the legs was terrible. The 2nd shot was well placed at the top of the net and not easily reached.

She could have done a bit better on the 2nd goal...

A mosquito must have preoccupied her thoughts.

If you want to blame her teammates for fouling in dangerous areas, then fine, but after that it's the keeper's responsibility to make the saves. Solo blew it big time on the first one, and misjudged the flight of the ball on the second one. Had she judged it better, she should have been able to punch it clear. But she didn't.

The only critical mistakes on those two goals (other than the fouls that created the set pieces) were in fact Solo's.
