Solo bears responsibility for both goals that were allowed yesterday. Question is whether Ellis would ever have the guts to bench Solo and start Naeher. My bet is not this time. New to discussion - I could care less about her white trash arrest. But personally I feel she's isn't performing as well as she has in the past. Partly that's because she doesn't get tested very often (one way to get good as a keeper is play on a cra**y team because you'll get shot on all day long). The mens' team relied on Howard forever as well (also justifiably so). But at some point you have to start giving the new blood at least some exposure to these higher stakes games so when the old guys and gals move on it isn't all new to new keeper. Perhaps the high visibility Olympics isn't where to do that but at some point all athletes have to hang it up. GK is brutal on the body too.Originally posted by Unregistered View PostComment

I bet you blame the keeper on your kids' teams for losses as well? You do realize with most goals there are multiple mistakes by the field players that lead to each shot on goal right? I'm not a huge fan of hers....but it's rare that you can lay all the blame of goals on the keeper. I agree she didn't play well and that free kick between the legs was terrible. If you want to blame her teammates for fouling in dangerous areas, then fine, but after that it's the keeper's responsibility to make the saves. Solo blew it big time on the first one, and misjudged the flight of the ball on the second one. Had she judged it better, she should have been able to punch it clear.
