Nope. Many of the players on that roster are on it because of political advantage. The Colorado kids are there because April Kater pushed them in. The Michigan kid (tiny and not just a late bloomer) because she plays with the anointed u17 NT superstar Spaanstra (that's another story) on the Fabled Michigan Hawks team. The Washington and World Class kids are outstanding and I am sure others are also deserving in their own right, but only some. It minimally matters and only because these 2018-19s are anointed as no risk players for college coaches. If they fail to produce, as many will, in the college game, then the coaches can tell their AD it wasn't for lack of recruiting prowess that the kids didn't produce, but that the YNT led him astray. After all he had a top drawer top 10 class since he was able to nab a top 10 YNT player...

The real WNT players will be declared in college so really its not important at U16 GNT level. At u17 it minimally does because there is an international show at this level.

The YNT stuff is nuts. They would better serve the advancement of the full NT below WC years to bring in 100 kids a year for evaluation and then 1 camp with their top 50 or so. The regional NTC combines do this once a year. I think there should be more of these and fewer national camps. Develop it as a real pyramid.
I agree but that was really the role of ODP and the nimrods screwed that up by not supporting the program. What you write is basically why they are creating the GDAP, they need to actually develop more players instead of just showcasing their athleticism for college coaches.

It sure would be nice if NEFC had a voice in this politically corrupt system, then maybe some of their deserving kids could be selected. Isn't any of their staff part of the scouting or training center network? There must be someone involved from such a noteworthy club.

I am seeing voices here that are not necessarily from "just" NEFC. As a matter fact, it seems perhaps it is an acknowledgement that NEFC have players capable of featuring in ynt. With that said, if you really know how and what NEFC preach, you would know that they like to do the talking on the field. Like someone mentioned earlier, it is not what it is now but what it will be. We shall see.

At some point NEFC will have a member of their staff be part of the YNT set up. I wonder if they'll abuse their power like JD does? I agree wholeheartedly that NEFC does much of their talking on the field and results usually speak for themselves. However, it has to be frustrating to see some players being put forward that are not at the level of some other players. JMO.

            Actually no.
There are only a few that have more than the usual ECNL/National League level voice in YNT selections. No NEFC coaches included.

So as for the ECNL national events go, each DOC is allowed to submit a list by birth year of YNT "players to watch" for the event. The normal ie not connected directly to the USSF, DOCs are very protective of their reputation with the federation. They won't submit a weak player for evaluation lest their credibility erode in the minds of the Feds. The lists submitted by the DOC are usually very short- Generally only1 or 2 kids per birth year.

Each birth year has a roster of 'scouts" who watch and rate the players and then evaluate them on their performance via a list of characteristics and skills which is then entered into a national database to keep track of kids. They have multiple tiers of kids from national camp invitees to almosts to NTC etc.

Guess who one of the main scouts evaluating players for the 00 birth year is? Yup JD himself. Still think it chance that 2 Stars 00s are going to Italy?

Give gda a chance to correct some of this pre-college - in the mean time all you can do is encourage your own kid to compete at their highest level. Here and there, should they encounter these nt players on the pitch AND shut them down your kid can walk away with a smile and THEN - you can say I told you so, seems satisfaction enough.
