D-3 Why does it not get respect on this site?

Little boys that go on to play soccer at D3 college are like men with very small schmekies. The are constantly looking over their shoulder to see if anyone noticed how small it is all the while trying to impress the bunch with tales of conquests over beautiful women which we all know only became beautiful after the bar closed.

Right on target. Love the parents who start out thinking their kids are a slam dunk for Harvard or Yale and then realize that their kid is competing against some international player with national team experience so their kid's score of 2000 on the SAT isn't even close to what is going to impress a typical Ivy League coach. The AI is a game and half the time the coach is just recruiting grades without consideration of soccer ability so the coach can bring the players they actually consider to be real prospects. Most of what they recruit is just to balance the books. The Ivies jerk smart kids around like they are sneaker dirt.

Hilarious and sad that the best that the academic elitists can do is basically post "thanks BTNT" or some other juvenile crap. Goes to show you how personally offended they are by folks not fawning over their children and how awesome they are.

It is the TS equivalent of "I know you are but what am I". And I am sure I can await a "Thanks BTNT" or another personal attack on you know who. Rinse. Repeat.

Interesting. The poster slams the parents of elite college prospects, and then slams the kids over the head with just being pawns used to make way for the real recruits to Ivies -- "without consideration of soccer ability." Small world, I guess.

All of your supposed angles have an anger or regret component to them. Interesting. My kid played club and loved it. Continues to play in college and loves it. She would have loved to play at the D1 level. She got some tepid interest but it didn't happen. She has the ultimate respect for her club teammates that have made the D1 level, they worked really hard and had better talent. No revisionist history for me. She had a goal of playing D1, it didn't work out. She then made the best decision she could based on her new reality.

We travelled all over the place to get her opportunities for exposure. We did that in order for her to get a shot at fulfilling the D1 dream. If she had no interest in that, it would have been very hard to make that commitment. It was a bit draining in both time and money. However, as the saying goes, you never know until you try. She tried but didn't get there. But she knew she took it as far as was possible. Sometimes desire can only bring you so far.

To come on here and claim that where she is at is due to some epiphany about academics or that it was a "better fit" would be a complete fabrication. Even worse is the argument that the soccer is even close to equivalent. It isn't. Her Option A was not realistic. Option B has been fantastic and she has no regrets as she did everything she could. And as many have stated, lower divisions do not take soccer quite as seriously, so she can be a college kid as well as a player. Everything has its pros and cons.

She now is trying to be the best she can be at the level she is at. She still keeps in touch with her old club teammates via social media. No regrets.

The coincidences continue. This not-BTNT poster representing a first in TS history -- a poster voluntarily serving up a bunch of concessions and confessions that fit right in line with what BTNT has been posting for days in a row and for years in a row. Hit every key target. Traveling too much for the sole, misguided purpose of "exposure." Not being good enough despite one's best efforts, because desire is not enough. Being magnanimous enough to tip his cap to the real talents who he and his daughters wish so well and stay connected to via "social media." And then the clincher....the condemnation of the straw man rhetoric BTNT loves to posts about parents "face-saving" with epiphanies about academics and what really is important.

The relentlessness of this guy is unprecedented. Keep in mind that he has no need to bother himself with such lowly, bottom of the barrel concerns. I seriously doubt he even has a clue about why. And yet he does -- serially, compulsively, and with an indigestible rage. He will continue tonight, tomorrow, and every day thereafter.

Have u actually seen Williams. It literally looks like a prep high school. Dartmouth and Williams are really not even close. Dartmouth has a top ranked medical school, top ranked b-school, top ranked engineering school, etc. oh, in addition to being D1. Don't believe the rankings. Just go see for yourself.

Some education: the definition of a liberal arts college, such as Williams, is that is is focused on undergraduate education rather than post grad such as b-school, medical school, etc. That is appealing to some. And, at my kid's LAC, there were a number of students - both athletes and non athletes - who chose it over Dartmouth. My student happily played D3 soccer, graduated with honors, and is now happily earning six figures (not as a professional soccer player).
