Agreed, my rules of thumb consider all seven classes. This is the lowest and I suspect some of the DAP players might have shot too high.

UMass and BC did a lot of the damage regarding PT among local schools.

Thanks all for the feedback. My son's club coach is encouraging mid level D1 (the two of them went through a list together) and he has interest, but he's got good D3 interest as well at some schools he's more interested in. I question how much he'd actually play on some of these rosters seeing the credentials of many players, especially all the internationals - it's like the UN on some teams. We're not in it for the money (especially since there really isn't any) and it's tough to judge where you fit in soccer wise. At least academics and school fit are more tangible and really are the most important.

Doesn't make it right or not comment worthy. Just hope for the kids sake it isn't a total fail but history says it may end badly.

Just my opinion but I suspect that some of the kids who went DAP were never strong players to begin with. For whatever reason they got their foot in the door and stayed the course on to a top D1 school. The same schools that are attracting elite kids from around the country. Kids that come from typically stronger DAP clubs that at the end of the day proved stronger than the players from MA.

This is the first class of players that had to pick high school or DAP. Granted some DAP players (but not many) were and still are given waivers. It's interesting that all of the four players that started for college teams from the class of 2016 chose high school and a club over DAP. I think you are correct that in MA at least some DAP players were not the strongest the area had to offer.

Time to wake up to reality. DAP should only be for the kids who want to consider a pro soccer path. Otherwise it's not worth the sacrifices so many boys are making nowadays. Long rides to Gillette, no high school soccer or other sports and activities, etc. All for what purpose? Let these boys have fun playing the sport(s) they love with their life-long friends and have a genuine high school experience rather than being a slave to DAP. A good portion of the current DAP boys will look back with regret when they find themselves sitting the bench or cut from their college teams.

One important addition: if you want top D1 soccer you pretty much must have DA on your resume. Lower level D1 and the rest it isn't as necessary but helps. it will be interesting to see what kind of chunk ENPL takes out of DA because then boys will have an option to play in a more organized national platform league and be able to play HS sports. If think if you're not a starter on a current DA team, and certainly if top D1 isn't your goal then you should at least give ENPL serious consideration (depending on what clubs get involved etc). If you're not on a free MLS team and you're a bench warmer at a nonMLS club - you're paying and paying for what? Might as well pay for the ability to do other things

Maybe, maybe not. Isn't UML now considered top D1 soccer?

The player that went to Maryland, the number1 ranked team in the country, was a GPS player. He played in six games for Maryland.

Among teams who made the NCAA tournament this season:

                        4 were DAP
                        10 were other clubs

These threads are so amusing. If you think DAP is not the way to go, then stick with GPS. DAP families are happy with their kids' opportunities. GPS families are happy with their kids' opportunities. And neither will be convinced. All good.
