Sorry, it was North Andover (and, earlier Wilmington) who left - Masco was not admitted to the new league they tried, still in CAL Large....

Some parents complain from other schools about sophomores being on our team (as opposed to only freshmen) but honestly... you're a loser if you complain about that. There is one year difference and these sophomores are players who didn't make the jv team.... And if they are bigger, stronger and/or better than your freshmen (by simple virtue of one year age difference) then you should be happy that your freshmen team is getting a good competitive game to prepare them for the older age groups.
Sophomores on a Freshman team are the real losers.

This is so wrong Sophomore's on a Freshman team?
If this conversation was about U16 club team players on a U15 roster this site would blowup with negative posts.

If players don't run with their heads up, they will collage.

That's why it is called a reserve team, not a freshman team. You also can't have it both ways. On the one hand, you cry because there are sophomores on the team (I assume you feel this is an unfair advantage). On the other hand, the sophomores are losers... If the team with a few sophomores on it, beats your freshman only team... What does that tell you about your freshmen?

Um, right because it's high school! There are 4 grade levels of players all playing together! There isn't a sophomore only team, junior only team, senior only team. Come on... Are you really that confused about this?

That's probably who started the thread - someone whose freshmen team was beaten by a mostly freshmen team and a few sophomores. HA! Like freshmen results matter or something. It's about kids getting pt to get ready for V. Having them sit on a JV bench does them no good.

My D sometimes plays on boys teams - should they be disqualified as well?

My kid plays for Masco and they have school pride I guess, there website posts freshman rosters all are freshman also posts game scores. Don't know about other leagues but all game scores should be posted. Until a kid makes varsity they are treated like they do not matter and that is wrong.

That's great for Masco. Do you ever consider that sometimes the numbers of players may warrant a different situation. For example, a town where there aren't enough freshmen to make a full squad but their are far too many to put them all (or the majority) on jv? I love it when people bring up their own school's situation as "aren't we great, we do this"... without considering that that plan may not work in every town.

                      Manchester/Essex, Newburyport boys only.
Hamilton/Wenham, Lynnfield, Masconomet, North Reading, Pentucket have boys and girls.
Triton and Georgetown have middle school waivers for 8th graders to play JV.

The only school I know of that plays older kids on freshman teams is Pentucket.
They have cut freshman placed some on JV and Varsity then played older kids on freshman teams they call JV2.
So I keep reading posts that defends teams that have JV2 teams playing Freshman games, no rosters available no scores available.
Pentucket does it who else does it.

One of the dumbest threads in the history of TS.

What's the complaint here? Someone's afraid their freshman Little Landon might lose their JV2 match playing against a school who rosters a few players from one grade level higher on their 3rd team... in high school?!

                        Get a life.
