How well known are top goalies and defenders? In all sports, it is usually the scorer that get the glory. There is no such thing as a team. It is merely individuals that have agreed upon a common goal.

It you want a team then check out the SEALs. Otherwise enjoy the individual talents that comprise a team.

Your point about the goalies and defenders is a good one. It comes down to a few things. Having a recruiter watch you play is great but what if they catch a boring game so to speak. Certainly, support from a coach is good. After that you might have to rely on a highlight video. Stats for goalies are easy to present, but for defenders they are somewhat absent.

As was discussed on a prior thread, there are stats that could be collected for defenders and include possession number and time, good vs bad deliveries, and steals/successful tackles. Having a few yellow cards might be nice too. After that, if your kid is a reputable defender and then has some goals and assists (right back to the offense) then you have a solid 'defender'.

My son, when he was in HS, lost out state recognition to a very good defender who also scored 3 goals and had 7 assists (vs 1 goal and 4 assists). The defender has to prove him/herself on both sides of the play while the forward is uni-dimensional to the recruiter.

After these, you have to show your kid at either recruitment showcases/camps or at a particular school's camp.

It was their NPL team, I thought they only brought guest players in for their regional/national teams.

Valeo played well Saturday. Their problem is not the midfielder. Even the parents and players from PDA were baffled....

Yeh you missed it. School is a priority on most week nights for half the team, the half that have their priorities in order. Give yourself a pat on the back for driving your kid around Bostin three school nights a week. Those kids will be going pro any day now, why focus on school?
