U14 big versus small club

D given contract for a big club(NEP) and also a small club(Maple).
Coach at the small club is excellent, the coach at the larger club is good but they change every 2 years.

Thoughts on excellent coaching but not better league , what is the preference of coaches of high school teams

Good coaching and training are important but that needs to transfer to the game. In game conditions if you are playing crappy teams you won't be challenged as much as playing like or better teams. If your D is offered a roster spot on an A team that plays in NEP, take it.

Ask the high school coach. There's a chance he's already seen your kid play. I'd bet the HS coach doesn't care about the league nearly as much as some of the things earlier posts mention and which is a better fit based on those things like: skill development in training, how challenging the level of competition is both individually and as a team where that would translate to her HS play, her approach to fitness regardless of club participation and her individual passion and commitment for playing and improving.

boys or girls? On the boys side outside of GPS, the top 5 Maple D1 teams seem to be stronger than NEP based on this last season.

Great idea - the coaches all know each other and the clubs. Go for best coaching and fit - you also don't want your kid bench surfing all season even if the coach is outstanding
