    Hope Solo vs. Floyd Mayweather

Why does the media crucify and destroy Mayweather's reputation and image for beating women but doesn't hold the same standards for Hope Solo? I find this a little disingenuous, don't you?

Shouldn't domestic violence committed by ANY gender be heavily criticized by the media? When Mayweather was competing in May, I've read and heard countless female news reporters telling people to boycott the fight because of Mayweather's domestic violence history but now a women, Hope Solo, does the same thing they do nothing but keep silent.

Hope Solo's domestic violence charges are extremely disturbing according to reports. I hope she gets put in jail for it.

What I find baffling is the use of the term domestic violence in the case of Solo. To me it sounds more like a family brawl/assault. DV victims are that - victims of someone who use violence to control them in some fashion. I don't remember what the charges were but it seems her PR firm is playing lose with terminology because it gets a more viseral reaction.

It's also gender based - huge, incredibly powerful man beating on not just one but several women, vs a strong woman beating on a large young male. He could kill a woman with his hands, Solo (probably ) could not.

The agenda against Hope is pitiful.

To compare her situation to a DV issue clearly shows a lack of understanding of DV

You didn't really just post that did you?

While in theory, I agree domestic violence is domestic violence regardless of the gender of the perpetrator, you don't see the difference between a professional male fighter beating up his girl friend and Solo getting into it with her sister and 6'9" nephew???

Me? I haven't a clue why people watch boxing to begin with, but obviously a whole lot of people totally ignored those female reporters. A sh*tload of money was made on that fight.

So why are you even attempting to compare Solo to Mayweather or Aaron Hernandez. There is no comparison. Men and women may be equals, but they are not the same.

Actually, anyone who pays attention to today's agenda driven media deserves to be misled.

The "agenda" being investigative journalism as the challenge to the broadly accepted narrative by fans, media and perhaps worst of all her teammates, coaches and US Soccer?

It's a ****ing joke that Hope Solo remains on the USWNT.

Quick, let's get back to applauding the "courage" of Bruce Jenner and showing contempt for anyone that expresses dissent.

Give me a break. Did you see the pictures of the boo boos Solo inflicted on her nephew and sister? I've gotten worse from my damn cat.

As usual the media pumps up a story to make money. Same can be said for Jenner. Meanwhile they ignore the really important stuff.

Hitting someone in your household is still domestic violence. It's not like domestic violence only constitutes beating your husband/wife.

Either way, what she did was physically harm other people which calls for jail time, no?

She didn't hit. She scratched. Go look at the pictures. And the nephew pulled a gun on her. What about that?

Can you go to jail for scratching?
