Then so be it. If the goal of youth soccer is to produce better soccer players then kids and their parents should consider their options and make the best educated choice they can. For those who stay there would be more room and opportunity. For those who go.....well, nothing ventured etc etc.

I have not seen many of the older kids games lately. My older son had played with Blazers and DAP, but that was before the NPL established itself. I do wonder if, in time, the level of play between the NPL (if this league really gets started) and the DAP will even out. It ultimately, the goal is to have playtime, develop, and be seen, then parents should seriously consider if a change is really necessary. Suffice it to say, the DAP is not nirvana. I have seen many come with the expectation of real development and find their boys riding the bench more than their fair share of the time. A couple of years with DAP with a kid who was not the top 8 players (probably more so 11-15) makes one aware of the priorities that the DAP coaches have. One in the bunch might truly be interested in the develop of each player, while the rest see only the team with a concentrated effort on less than 50% of the 23 man roster. Ultimately, the fun, playtime, and exposure was significantly better with a non-DAP team (Blazers in his case).

So your little book worm won't get in to Harvard if he misses 3 days of school to play in a world class tournament. Life is about experience and exapnded one's outlook on life! This is a life building experience that they will not get in a math class!

It is always interesting to see what people call 'life-building' experiences. I understand that traveling with your team (in this case not really as it was made up of various kids) to another state and playing against good competition is always exciting. However, for our family (perhaps different from yours) I consider school and education as a higher priority. Making a child understand and appreciate it is also a life-building issue. Prioritizing school over sports is, in my opinion very important. It will only be the smallest minority of kids who will make their favorite sport their career. For the rest, a sound education, or, more to the point, a clear prioritization of what is most important, will build stronger life-building blocks than going away to play in Dallas with many kids that you don't know.

Again, we call define our own life-buiding experiences. Suffice it to say, they are different.

Middle school transcripts end up in the trash bin in the garage along with the multiple Egyptian pyramids and volcano projects. Stop dramatizing this.

Live stream of U13 Finals San Diego/Golden State

Live stream in progress of the U13 Finals at Dallas. Those kids are soccer players boy, no doubt about it! Amazing performance from GPS National to hang with those teams and reach the semi's. Those California Academy teams put Region 1 soccer to shame.

Yes. It is only middle school just like this was one tournament that claim to be an important life experience. Assuming we agree that it is 'just middle school' let's take it a step further to teach the kid about priorities.....school/education vs. just one tournament. The principle is what is being considered and taught, not a volcano experiment vs a soccer tournament.

God, you have all the answers. Hope life treats you well my friend. People like you scare me, these parental gurus like yourself usually come from very dysfunctional families. All the best.

Been watching the stream, you're right. They can play. Nothing like you see around these parts on a typical Sunday afternoon in Lancaster or wherever. That GPS team must be quality to have reached the Final four.

"People like [me] scare [you]"? You say this because I put school as a higher priority over traveling to Dallas for a soccer tournament?
Your answer comes from an arrogant pompous person who starts phrases with 'God' as though you are closer to him/her/it and the address me as your 'friend'. All very superficial and pretentious. "All the best" as though you really care....again....pretentious.

Life has treated me very well and not because my parents were wealthy but because they taught me about hard work and how to appreciate things. It is my opinion, and not gospel from a 'guru' that school is a higher priority than traveling to Dallas for a soccer tournament....especially at U13. You and I clearly differ and that is great.

What drama!!! You sure you're a male? Once again, it's only middle school. You'll learn soon enough what importance you are giving it the fact that the boys missed a few days of...middle school. I suspect you haven't been through much yourself.
