That article is really about the WNT. College coaches seem pretty happy. And don't forget that in the new model the college soccer season is going full year. That should help with the pre-med dream.

One of the things that should pop right out is that DAP is it's own entity and it should be obvious that US Soccer is simply going to build this new mission on that thread rather than under the US Club Soccer one.

You are a wealth of info, BTDT. And yes, it's beyond "obvious" what they are going to do. Did you call them? Hopefully whatever this new model is that they might do, once they figure out what they want to do, might be there just in time for your grandkids. Let's hope they don't end up tracking for D3. Then they wouldn't get to play soccer nor would they be able to attend a college they wanted to attend.

What do you think that if US Soccer creates a girls dap that there will be no demand for it? This is going to kill both the ECNL and NPL and it will have a significant impact.

Minuscule demand.

They will have to pound on doors to get a full subscription. They will find 60 knucklehead parents, to be sure. But it will take some doing.

It's a controversial proposition on the boys side and they have an MLS to dream about. What girls are going to fall for this? Other than a chance to live with your girlfriend what's the value proposition?

Same families that buy the ECNL/NPL hype will buy this new Girls DAP. The reasoning will be exactly the same and the players will flock to it. The lunacy behind that is no different than the current lunacy.

And if something actually does happen you can be sure that the top existing clubs/teams and probably existing leagues will be folded in. No difference. Just another name. Most likely they will modify ECNL with the big change being the welcome add-on of a residential program. One question will be whether the residential program will exclude or allow those kids to play in college.

The politics will be amazing. Do they give girls DAP programs to the existing boys DAP clubs or do they go in a different direction. If they go in a different direction who gets the nod in this area. Looks like there will only be two clubs in Mass.

It's tempting to accept that reasoning given the arms race of kids sports but ECNL (and to a lesser extent NPL) already does what parents and players want: Provides a platform for college recruitment. If another platform comes in to provide a platform for national team or pro recruitment no one will care. Going to ODP events a couple times a year to prop up the resume is one thing. No one is moving out to KC or FL to chase that dream when BC or Harvard awaits.

The arms race does exist and the movement to a DAP program would be inevitable if this thing does become a reality.

Are there really any parents out there who wouldn't support their kid playing D3?
