We just can't offer the type of training the best kids on my team need to progress. I willingly transition kids to clubs all the time so their needs are better met. We are what we are, an inclusive opportunity for kids to play soccer. We aren't building champions. We aren't as intense as 90% of the club teams out there.

Please stop posting like you belong to maple.
90 % of maple teams are for serious players and they have good coaching and get serious training. From Strikers to Liverpool to town teams.

sorry but 90 percent of maple team do not have good coaching, in fact it's more like 20 percent, and that's being generous

i assume that people know many club kids still play for their town teams ? Two-thirds of the boys on my town team play club and we have played and beaten club teams we have played from both NEP and Maple over the past couple years. Can we beat the top tier teams?..of course not...but we have played many second tier teams and have rarely lost. I am guessing there are a number of talented town teams can do the same. Not sure why this would be surprising. Top tier elite club teams will beat every town team easily in almost any situation.

is a "town" team with mostly club players still a "town" team?

Yes it is a town team with club players when playing in town leagues. It is club town team when playing in MAPLE without its town players that play for another club. Which the top players should do.

So following your logic the town Maple teams won't have any of the better kids that play for actual clubs. That means the wheat has been separated from the chaff. No one thinks their kid is the chaff. Simply put Maple town teams are depleted and pedestrian by your own admission. I agree.

Sorry, yes i should have been more explicit...when i mentioned the town team i coach, i did mean a town team that plays in a town league only, and we have a compliment of club players. We have played club teams in tournaments, indoor soccer, and futsal. We do not attempt to play in Maple and isn't something our board would endorse nor do I feel is right for our boys. I have the proper licences and a decent soccer background, but am not a professional coach. The boys get solid coaching from their clubs and i try to reinforce what they learn there and also make sure they have fun while they develop. I don't see the endgame for town teams playing in premier leagues, but to each his own i guess. My son's club team has played these town "club" teams and some are pretty good, others not. Unless they are being trained by professional coaches, not sure what they gain. And they will never beat the top club elite programs.

What is your definition of professional coach?

There is nothing wrong with MAPLE as an activity for the children.

It sure beats them parking themselves in front of the telly or hanging out on street corners.

Actually there is something wrong with maple. I never realized how many Brits coach in maple .
Now I know why it has gone down in quality.

Our MAPLE team has a parent coach so no problems here mate.

All these recent quotes sound like a scorpion boys coach who knows how bad his teams are and knows how bad most NEP teams are and is very worried by town travel teams being much better - its funny

I get paid so I am a professional coach - I coach NEP so we are the best. I have little experience and my team is terrible, but we get paid and the parents pay for us to go to tournaments - its great - not like smaller clubs who may beat us, but their coaches may not get paid - they are not professionals like us in our cool free jackets

Be a professional - coach IN nep
