We played a gps team this morning that our team killed earlier in the season. This morning, it was practically an entire different team. We lost by a significant margin. How many players are allowed to join a different team from theirs using the club pass?

The first thing to understand is that the club pass is supposedly a player development tool. The theory behind it is that clubs should manage their player pool to give each player an appropriate level of competitive challenge. In practice what this means is they move all of their better players into the games against the better teams. Functionally what the club pass does is basically eliminate the concept of individual teams in favor of player pools and intentionally de-emphasizes the individual games making them little more than training events. I think that you will find that in the USCS world there is very little in the form of roster restraints that prevent clubs from essentially sandbagging another team and part of the reason why that is permissible is the individual games don't mean all that much (except to the parents of the losing team) from their pov.

Gotta laugh at this thread. Couple of years ago the Stars were moving ECNL players all over the place to sandbag teams in the R1PL and screw up the standings (they even used the club pass to move players on to state cup rosters). Remember the answer here, it was supposedly "all for development" (wink, wink, nod, nod) and of course that was supposed to be ok. Now we are talking about supposedly the same thing with GPS but without nearly the consequences (no one cares about pre-season tournaments) and everyone is supposed to just gang up on them for being evil. Wonder how much of this is tied to the Bayer Munich announcement. Notice how GPS seems to be drawing an awful lot of hate here lately. Co-incidence or just statistics working their way out?
