Let's Do it! Stars vs NEFC vs Everyone Else

Seems like with fall season winding down that the usual uptick in club propaganda is starting to gather. With all of the factions so firmly entrenched we always seem to dance around getting the real differences between the two clubs out in the open never mind then comparing them to what every other club actually has to offer. Might as well do it right this year so instead of spreading the battle to dozens of smaller threads and shutting down all of the discussions on TS lets make this thread the place for those two clubs to have their marketing battle. Based upon historical and recent threads here are some of the obvious differences:

1-ECNL vs NPL
2-Mandated travel based upon league rules vs travel based upon team wants/needs
3-Exposure based recruiting process vs targeting based recruiting process
4- Discourage high school soccer vs encourage high school soccer
5- Club mandated training vs flexible individual training
6- The needs of the club/team outweigh the needs of the individual vs the needs of the individual outweigh the needs of the team/club
7- Screamers vs laid back coaches

Might the rest of us suggest that those two factions that they use this thread to battle out their ideological differences and leave the rest of the threads alone so the rest of us can have some sane discussions.

A full 29 pages and 285 posts later, and finally this topic stalled. I'm the OP and I'd like to thank the TS community for validating my hypothesis through this informal experiment. I never thought it would garner this much attention. You surprised even me, which is difficult, since I've started some of the most vitriolic and contentious topics on TS in the last 4-5 years. Bravo for making a mountain out of a mole hill!

Never forget that this site is a commercial endeavor which makes money the more people visit it.

A quick read of the GPS thread confirms that nothing has changed on this site. This sort of lull happens periodically. One typically happens this time of year, every year, as the fall season winds down. Typically though it all picks back up with the Thanksgiving tournaments and carries through to the start of the spring.

At least with the issues pretty squarely focused in this particular thread, perhaps others can have a discussion that doesn't degenerate into a screaming match between those two factions.

So what say everyone, do those issues fairly represent the differences between the two clubs? Are there any other differences that should be highlighted in addition to or instead of?

In the last year it certainly does seem as though the Stars are starting to slip and you have to know that another year of lack luster results will basically put a nail in the coffin. This is exactly why this fall it was so important for him to get his teams practicing together. He needs to get a big jump on things otherwise the Stars are cooked.

Stars can't possibly like the long trend from 5+ years ago to present and 5+ years out...unless the business bottom-line is all that matters, not the debate between perception and reality.

They have sold out to drive revenue numbers just like every other club around here has so they don't have any more of a claim to quality at this point than the rest of what is out there. They have diluted their brand to get where they are now and that trend you speak of will lead them to the exact same place it led the Scorpions unless they turn things around real quick.

Basically its because they can't argue with the starting post. What was written actually does lay out the differences quite nicely and if they tried to argue otherwise they would end up looking foolish.
