Could someone tell me who these 2 are BTDT and Perspective??

Pathfinder[/B];983835]I do not have any daughters in soccer but I find this post right on. I go by "Pathfinder". I have 2 boys in club soccer and several other youth sports. I find the anti-BTDT post off-putting. Maybe it is that I do not know the history or maybe because you guys have a personal relationship but when someone says that the conclusion is subjective and then it is attacked, I have trouble with the logic.

that's just me.

BTW -- Short of competing myself, I love watching my boys play sports. It is really cool to see how their skills are getting better and their potential is growing every day. I know someday I will miss my weekends of youth sports.

When you think about the obscene, regressed stuff this guy has posted as the pieces of the puzzle come together it's all even more disturbing. Now let's talk about who is not taking his meds.

Rants? Where? Haven't seen anything close to a rant from the P man (who, btw, could not be more accurate in his assessment). BTNT still wants to spew about the exact same things years later.

Screen names are always dangerous on an anonymous forum because you can never be sure who is authoring what anonymously and often ideas get attributed erroneously to a specific screen name simply because the share some commonality. Not sure if this person is actually Perspective or just someone that seems to side with him on a number of issues (usually around education and soccer). There is a woman from one of the high income towns around Boston, former nurse actually and husband is an MD, who really fits the bill when you start deconstructing a lot of posts that often get labeled as coming from P. She has the medical familiarity associated with a lot of P's posts. She had a daughter who was a two sport athlete at a well known NESCAC school. Was always talking about how she was really a high level D1 soccer player who chose the elite D3 option which is another theme that often gets associated with P. Had another who played soccer at an Ivy and put another kid through as ISL so she is very well versed in the high end academic track. She's also very much the stage mom. Years back she got one of her daughter's high school soccer coaches fired and still wasn't satisfied so she literally rented an apartment in another town just so her daughter could play soccer in a program she felt was more suitable. Her kids are either out of college now or in the last legs of it but it definitely seems as though she might be here frequently and with things to say.

To the Newbie OP - One of the characteristics of Perspective is he projects his own behavior on to others, as is shown by the post above. You will find other example throughout this thread as well as throughout this entire forum.

Perspective suffers from a condition known as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. His obsession is BTDT. His compulsion is posting here under the assumption that all posts contradicting him are by BTDT. We can also assume he suffers from paranoia.

BTDT is the son of a well known professional athlete who also became a sports TV personality associated with a New England team. BTDT himself was a D1 athlete at Duke. One of his daughters has attained NT status. The man is opinionated and he bases those opinions on his experience. That's not to say he's always right. I myself have challenged him over the years. Howevet, this seems to piss off some in this forum. For those, other than Perspective who I have indicated suffers from a mental illness, I can only assume a touch of envy. I don't see any reason to get pissed off at someone because you disagree with their opinion. It's not like BTDT is suggesting you be beheaded because you disagree with him. I personally preferred to make an opposing argument based on my knowledge of the issues being discussed. Unfortunately, this forum rarely goes down those paths any more, basically because Perspective takes over any discussion with his obsessive rants directed at BTDT instead of the actual issues attempting to be discussed.

Going back to the OP's original question. The simple answer is Perspective and BTDT are mythical creatures at this point because you have lots of people jumping in and talking for them and about them. If you are truly a newbie all you really need to know is that each screen name represents a side in one of the chronic discussions that happen here on TS. Think of them like fictionalized gladiator champions that do battle so the opposing don't have to. Here is how you score it

Perspective = ECNL, Elite D3, if you got it why not spend it on soccer not everyone is looking for a scholarship, chose education over athletics and you don't have to worry about the business side of D1
BTDT = non-ECNL, D1, the soccer system is broken so all of these leagues and travel are stupid, d1 soccer is a business be careful what you wish for
