I see no problem with this game. Teams need to learn how to stall a game and how to break through a team that is stalling.

    Another Valeo parent here....
I hope my kid is not on the same team as your kid.
I have seen games where one team was doing what they could to not let up a goal. I even watched one when the team getting the beat-down, took advantage on one mistake and scored on the only shot they had....and won the game. Although the kids were very happy to have won (the other team was quite a bit better), there is not one kid on that team that would want to play that kind of soccer on a regular basis.....especially the defenders....and goalie.

The brand of soccer that the NEFC Boys NPL U13 displayed against the GPS NPL team last Sunday in NEP play was a disgrace, and a pre-determined tactical decision by Christian Battaglia to place 5 defenders in a formation to save face to NEFC's customer base, that's all. Not to teach the boys to be creative, to play 2 way soccer or to find ways to beat your opponents on one on one situations. Let's not forget, these are businesses. As long as the perception is that the his teams are not losing by large margins, they are somehow learning how to play the game. Battaglia might be a crappy coach but he's no fool. The result against the same GPS NPL team in the Stars Cup(5-1 loss to them) precipitated this pre-emptive strike by Battaglia on Sunday.

The NEFC U13 Boys Elite team's performance last Sunday against the GPS NPL team(incidentally the boys just following the coach's game plan) is undoubtedly an epic fail in terms of youth soccer coaching at the 12/13 year old level. The absolute lowest form of coaching at such a critical developmental age group. At the 17/18 year age group, then we get it. Not at 12/13!!! Hey, but that's the business of youth soccer. Shameful

American soccer coaches just have absolutely no clue. That's why MLS is leaning on France to teach them something. Youth soccer coaches are just abysmal, not NEFC's fault. Battaglia is not a coach, he is a recruiter and wants sustainability for his bosses and pad his own wallet. Who can blame him really?

My son is on CB's NPL U13 team and I will have to agree with you. I was not happy with what I saw. The GPS NPL team is very good, and we did not stand up to them. Not very happy right now with the coach. This is not what I expected from NEFC.

What a bull****ter you are. You're son isn't on CB's team. Nice try though.

Ridiculous. GPS couldn't get past their defensive wall. Get over it. I respect NEFC for their strategy and even more for taking out GPS. It's still soccer for Pete's sake.

This was supposedly the uber GPS showcase team that couldn't score a single goal?
                    Ouch.

do you think that this strategy will work more than 1-2 games out of 10?
In two games against GPS NPL Elite they have a loss and a tie.......1 point. Tell me, how far will that kind of thinking get you? While I know the strategy and recognize what it can do with the possibility of a breakaway goal and a 1-0 win for NEFC, but unless NEFC finds another man-child from Africa, it just is not going to happen.

If you had watched the game, you would have seen poor soccer on the part of NEFC.

I hope our kids are not on the same team because of just making your point you attack me.

Back to my point, I never stated that you would want to play that way on a regular basis. However, there are circumstances when putting a stall on might benefit you. I can envision a scenarios where that might benefit you in a tournament so that you can advance.

Additionally, there will always be teams that will put a stall on, every team should be able to overcome that type of defense.

You must be an MPS parent, oh sorry a GPS parent who has never won a State Cup or a major Tournament. The man- child from Africa is playing professionally in the USL Pro league and playing major minutes at 17 years-old. Your kid is just playing for GPS and you are funding Peter and Joe's pockets. Jealous?

Did you really watch the game? Did NEFC really play with 5 defenders? Did you listen to your coach and hear him ask his players to kick it down the field to your white man-child of players. Before you throw stones you better look in the mirror. Last time I check NEFC, CB and EK were developing players and quality teams. GPS played a couple of games and know they are king **** in the Region.

If your coach was good enough he would of figured out how to beat a simple block of eight. Didn't make any adjustments or couldn't figure out the match-ups. NEFC played hard and showed great determination against a better team. GPS fans just make uneducated comments because you were out coached by a better coach!
