USYSA owns a wide market in rec and "travel" level programming. probably represents 97%+ of the total youth soccer market. "USYSA official 'grass roots sponsor' of the MLS": grass roots = beginning level. They have shown, through allowing use of horrific field surfaces at URI regionals and hiring inexperienced teenage refs, that they are willing to toss the highest youth levels to the wind.

No significant financial damage to occur if they lose this expensive boutique market. In fact probably the profit margin on high level programming is negative as higher levels demand more expensive surfaces and other overhead. Loosing the "elite" level might just be a cost effective move for them.

Let US Club and USSF deal with the "elites" and they will take the lion's share of the rest. Unless the big personnel upheaval in region 1 is a harbinger of massive changes to come (free ODP would be a big start), USYSA itself has declared itself divested of the best.

This is not an ECNL is better type statement only a (superficial I concede) business analysis as I see it

They have already lost the top level, this has not been a choice.

On the NEFC site it says USYSA is totally legit.
