Nefc u14 npl & usys national champions!!!

NEFC's two championships are a great accomplishment for the club and they belong in the debate about the top clubs in their age group. However, they have not consistently beaten the top ECNL clubs in the region (STARS and PDA), so I wouldn't be so quick to claim they would "conquer" ECNL. It would be fair to say that NEFC would be among the top teams at most age groups and it's a shame they don't get an opportunity to play more of the ECNL clubs.

It is absolutely not fair to say they would be among the top teams at most age groups. At this U14 certainly, but saying most of their teams can compete at this level is a HUGE stretch.

I respectfully submit that this what really sticks in the craw of the local ECNL clubs. NEFC figured out that thanks to the ECNL, the path to the NPL and USYS titles was essentially cleared for a solid -- but not remarkable -- team like NEFC U14 Elite to make a real run. With Stars and all the rest of the ECNL-level teams safely out of the way, NEFC Elite were presented with a golden opportunity to make a name for themselves and get in a dig on their local ECNL competition at the same time. Then, to their credit, they went ahead and did it. For the moment, the ECNL supporters have no legitimate comeback because the simple fact is their teams weren't there to contest for either title.

It's not an insurmountable problem for the reputation of the local ECNL clubs, but it is a bruise to their ego, and a signal to all those who put stock in winning championships that the ECNL isn't the be all, end all. Being honest, I think even NEFC would grant that winning an ECNL Championship is a harder road than either NPL or USYS, but for now that doesn't matter. NEFC Elite has the hardware from NPL and now USYS, and they will make all the hay they can from it. To the victor go the spoils. That is the source of all the insecurity that is now being displayed on here.

That was at U19, which many consider to be a garbage title, right? This team is excellent and they have studs in key positions. It takes 14-15 talented players to win a championship and NEFC has done it twice. More than any other girls club in the history of MA soccer.

Where is all the Stars insecurity I keep reading about? All I see are repeated posts by BTNT. Please, take a vacation. You've earned it. You can puff out your chest, walk down the Atlantic City boardwalk like "the man," and get yourself a nice seafood plate.

"They play boom ball to their center forward and she's quality and so is their attacking mid and they won it for them"

Maybe you should have seen it for yourself or watch the replay of the winning goal. It was set up by a beautiful 1v 1 play and a pass to an attacker who beat the defender to the outside and sent a great cross to two unmarked players. The talked about striker missed it and the player behind her knocked it in. The second goal was in the last minute and while important it was not the game winner. What's been overlooked is the great save that the GK made in the closing seconds of regulation which essentially saved the game(and no I'm not related to her). Great team effort and definitely not playing long ball.

AMAZING accomplishment by those girls. Don't have a kid at NEFC but very, very impressive. Coaches, parents and especially kids really have something special with that team. Awesome stuff.
