I agree.... nasty to the kids, treat parents poorly, cut throat, bloated coaches, ECNL hoggers, nasty wankers... you name it ...

On a more serious note, why do you think the are a terrible club?

That sound you just heard was a collective groan at NEFC HQ, and they just got about 15 more "BTDT is a problem" emails in their inboxes.

NEFC is more organized than STARS.... they are have good regional strategy which they have effectively implemented. JD just shoots from the hip... he just sees what sticks...he only cares about ECNL team.... his pride and joy... god forbid you make a mistake... boo hoo-- benched you will be....

He is afraid to let NEFC into the ECNL....

But what does any of that have to do with the post you quoted? Non-responsive.

NEFC needs to earn an ECNL bid.

Thats why the better players join the stars at some point right?? That's why more than a few bolted NEFC to join STARS..That's why !! Its JD's business and that's how he wants it run!! Look, after all said and done, JD will be a wealthy man, one who will always have a job!!

BTDT, do you feed Suzie? And at least check in on her once in a while?

Just saying, here are NEFC's results for the year so far. In addition, they are sending 3 teams down to the USYSA Regionals and 2 teams so far down to the NPL Nationals. Not a bad year, no?

U12 - NPL 1st Place finish, 1st Place NEP Premiership Finish, Open Cup Finalist
U13 - NPL 1st Place finish, 4th Place NEP Premiership Finish, Open Cup Champion, State Cup Semi-Finalist, NPL Champion
U14 - NPL 1st Place finish, 1st Place NEP Premiership Finish, Open Cup Semi-Finalist, State Cup Champion, NPL Champion
U15 - NPL 1st Place finish, 1st Place NEP Premiership Finish, Open Cup Champion, State Cup Champion
U16 - NPL 9th Place finish, 7th Place NEP Premiership Finish, Open Cup Semi-Finalist, State Cup Finalist
U17 - USYSA National League 6th Place Finish, NPL 7th Place finish, 6th Place NEP Premiership Finish, State Cup Champion
                    U18 - NPL 2nd Place finish, State Cup Semi-Finalist
This say no it is not working.

Younger teams look good. The 16's and 17's horrible. Besides the fact that 17's won state cup which is now pretty lame, their record is terrible. 16's are just a joke. I would say that NEFC can't keep a good thing going, they loose it when kids get older. Stars 16 and 17 's are first place in their ECNL divisions and will have a decent showing at a national even against extremely tough competition. Are Stars doing it right ? Yes I would say so . You want kids to develop and get better not regress and get worse correct?

Interesting? Half the Stars roster are players that have developed with NEFC! If NEFC was allowed to play in ECNL Stars would be dead! JD is lucky to the ECHL. Stars younger teams are average and the boys program is below average. Stars is not working!

As long as people are convinced that ECNL provides the best exposure and that exposure is really important, kids and parents will seek it out despite the costs and travel. Especially as JD sells the product so well. He is coaching 4 ECNL teams this year. He is a national team assistant. He is on the board of ECNL and US Club Soccer. He is also overseeing his real estate expansions. In addition to expanding in 4 different directions.

Once the ball keeps bouncing, and it always keeps bouncing, and the soccer world moves on to a different venue that makes more sense for kids and parents then Stars will maintain this perceived edge. Once another option exists, JD's influence will slowly wane with all of the above and they will come back to the other good clubs in the area.

I guess we don't look at our own stable of teams when we make such obviously antagonistic posts. The Stars 16's and 17's are crap and every parent in those age groups knows it. It is true that they are not alone though because all of the other teams in that age group are also crap. Here's the reality, the U17 and U16 age groups were the battle ground groups that the ECNL vs non ECNL war was waged and it basically was fought to a standstill. If you look around at any club in this state non are particularly strong in those age groups because the talent is spread out all over the place. To make matters worse the clubs pushed these age groups way too hard, playing them in too many games, trying to get the upper hand in that war so now the parents are all dealing with injuries and burnt out players. The parents in those age groups know that the problems cross club lines and exist everywhere so don't get all high and mighty pretending that they don't.

The only thing positive that came out of all of that inter club squabbling was a very clear understanding that there was no one size fits all answer. Why that is positive is it has put tremendous pressure on the clubs to produce what they have been advertising and that has actually improved the quality of what the clubs are providing to their families. As consumers that is a very good thing.
