End of the State Cup near?

Perhaps this is old news, but I was recently told that NEP will no longer be sending their teams to the State Cup. I don't quite understand the logic, but given that the majority of teams in the Cup are from NEP, it appears only MAPLE teams will now vie for that (greatly reduced) honor.

Is this progress or am I missing something here?

Press release doesn't say anything about NEP teams not playing in current state run championships. At least I didn't see it. Does it say anywhere that a team can't play in both state championships?

Doubt MYSA will allow NEP going forward to be a qualifying league for State Cup since it will now be under US Club Soccer control and State Cup is a USYS run event.

MYSA State Cup will continue but as a second division due to all the top clubs and teams playing in the US Club Soccer State Cup. This is a big hit to teams that are not allowed into NEP or a US Club Soccer League. It will potentially allow ECNL, NPL Clubs to also play in the US Club Soccer State Cup plus their ECNL and NPL Championship series. There will also not be conflicts with league games like MYSA does with all other leagues. Welcome to the future of Club soccer and that is US Club Soccer.

The press release does not say that NEP clubs will avoid State Cup, or stop being members of USYS, which also sponsors the Region I leagues. Clubs have been members of both USCS and USYS for several years, and presumably clubs can still opt to be members of both. You could see a scenario in which clubs enter some teams in State Cup and others in US Club's events, or whatever combination suits them, depending on schedule conflicts, etc.
It would be helpful to use Memorial weekend for some of these competitions, rather than lose that weekend to these other various tournaments, though of course those tourneys are big money makers for the organizers.

USYSA will not allow NEP becasue it will be a US Club Soccer League just like ECNL and NPL. It will be a qualitfing league for the US Club Soccer LEague and any USYSA leagues will not be able to play in their State Cup. They will also have Regionals and National Cup games. Doubt this will be the case. USYS and US Club soccer do not like each other very much to the point that ECNL players had to cover or remove their ECNL patch if they were playing in a USYS run event last year

That's because it was previously sanctioned by USYS, now it won't be, so USYS cannot use NEP as a qualifying league.

I doubt it. Every state cup qualifying league is sanctioned by USYS or independent- like NEP was. NEP moving to US Club will clearly create friction among USYS. They will not accept it.

Now that NEP is affiliated with US Club Soccer, what is the relationship between NEP and the NENPL league that it is highlighting on it's website? Is there a direction that NEP and the one or two NPL leagues are moving toward? What is the end game here?

State Cup was a great event and enjoy it this weekend if your son/daughter are playing. It will be the last state cup as we know it. This is the last time that the NEP teams play in it. It was a lot of fun and a great event for teams.
