Revs are doing the same but we know that their training is suboptimal. They like to get play-ready man-children. Only parents who want to brag that their kid is "playing for the Revs" will sign them up and make that drive to Marlborough several times a week.

The local pre-academy '02 Bolts team is doing stellar as you can see here:

Wow, there are some very big boys in U13 that are born early 2002. 8 v 8 seems counterproductive at this age.

                No thanks on the pre-academy then. I prefer 11 v 11 for my 2003.

Academy has already broken from original mandate, way too many clubs allowed in. NY-NJ should have 5 at most. Biggest argument against MA third team is Bolts. If second team stinks why add a third? Sure there are enough boys to support it but Bolts have inadvertently helped entrench their monopoly by getting whack-a-moled.

Bolts needs a better coaching staff at the younger ages to attract stronger players to be competitive!

People moan about us being substandard in comparison to the International sides. The quote above is exhibit "A" as to why we'll never close the gap.

                        Does your U13 play 8 v 8?

U13 is the right age to start playing 11 v 11. Wasting valuable touches for all the years you fold earlier.

Nah. 70 minutes instead of 60 and proportionally fewer subs. Touches are about the same on a good passing team. If your kid is not in very good shape then by all means, keep him on the toddler field.

Agree. Playing 11 v 11 earlier is better. There is more running but the touches are the same or more.

But pre-academy has half the "U13's" on their team (Jan-July 2002) playing 8 v 8. That does not seem like a good model. Glad we did not pursue that route.
