GotSoccer is for people to look at. I enjoy purusing.

Same deal in the Regional Futsal tournament.
What crappy tournament did they play in again???

The worst thing for kids development is too many tournaments .These guys seem to be in a tournament every month.

Father's Day in June. Losing 9-5 to MPS Knights and then winning 7-0 in the finals to the same team.

Seriously? I know these are young kids and their results can certainly change depending on whether they ate a donut or corn muffin on the way to the game but how do they beat a team by 1 in the VW round robin then the same team by 11 in the final, then have these types of results on father's day? Someone educate me please.

Ummm! They are 11! Plus you never know. Did coach only play bottom half in 1st game, or best 6 played up for this tournament. Who knows, but I'm sure you will hear a bounty of crazy reasons, all to stain GPS.

I'm not trying to stain GPS...just seems bizarre that there have been 2 instances of this happening with the same club so close together. Maybe like you said, they moved kids into their more comfortable positions and they executed better. Maybe they had kids playing baseball and missing some games but being available for others. Anyone who is involved with this team could easily clear it up for those who are trying to just sling mud.

They are 12 yrs actually and this is the third instance that someone pointed out 1) futsal tournament; 2) VW; 3) fathers day.

MPS Knights U12 is a very good team. I can't see them losing 7-0 unless the team was scavenged by GPS NPL for the Finals.

This is it in a nutshell for all your conspiracy theorists. GPS has a GPS Elite program where they take the best regional team players and assemble GPS Elite teams in training and tournaments throughout the year with select coaches and trainers. They also have a AS Roma academy program which does the same thing.GPS NPL for boys will be new for the 2014/2015 season and will be an all New England division with NEFC, AZtec, WUP,Seacoast etc.Tournament rosters are set, player pass cards and birth certificates are admitted and players don't shuffle in and out to determine and/or solidify wins. This is all easily verifiable stuff. I am a GPS parent and I can tell you, this did not happen at the VW tournament and does not happen at any other event. All the racist comments about British accents, being duped into a pyramid soccer scheme and those other negative rants about GPS is nothing new. You all have the option to stay with your present clubs and hope your sons achieve their dreams and aspirations. The New England Revolution have chosen 4 GPS players for their U13/U14 academy team for 2014/2015. GPS must be doing something positive.

I think the teams you mention would be happy to have a match with any club... the GPS team at your own Thanksgiving tournament was not very good and the parents complained an awful lot. I hope this years u12 GPS NPL is better

When you come to pick up your kid after the game next time, don't wait in the car, com out to the field and pretend that you care. Maybe ask your kid how his game was or better discuss some details.

With respect to this Father's Day tournament, it was essentially a series of intra-club scrimmages that nobody cared too much about. Given the time of year (post-tryouts, pre-acceptance), there were a host of guest players on all sides, as well as lots of kids missing for some or all of the tourney for a wide range or reasons (conflicts with town soccer and other sports, graduations, private schools already on vacations). As a result, the rosters for each game were wildly inconsistent--leading, not surprisingly, to wildly inconsistent results. Bottom line is that the tourney did not matter--it was a few fun games and nobody involved really cared too much about the results. You shouldn't either.

Not involved in the age group in any way (U13 NEP parent)- but this thread has fascinated me since the beginning...

If the tourney "didn't matter", then why did they bother to register it with GS? Can't a "few fun games" be played any time? Especially if "nobody involved really cared about the results"?

I'm sure the kids cared about the results (at least I hope they did!). I'm sure the club cared about the points, or they wouldn't have paid GS to host what "was essentially a series of intra-club scrimmages that nobody cared too much about".

                            Just the facts, no commentary....

GPS-MA NPL wins the Fathers' Day Invitational (vs two other GPS teams and a team from the Bolts...), gets 3,836 points.

Scorpions U14 boys lose in the semi-finals of the National Championship, get 2,000 points.

Losing the National Championship final gets a team 4,000 points.

Nobody with any intelligence cares about the points and the club certainly does not care--especially at this age. The GS system is used for scheduling and registration. The points and rankings are meaningless. Stop paying attention to that nonsense.
