The question really should be why did teams such as Aztecs, NU/Valeo enter a tournament which was made for 2002 year of births with 2003's. Your coaches set you up to fail and that you did.

      Deal with it.
And the emails are flying with 'before and after' photos of the GPS team. I wish I could post them on here. LIARS!!! And the Aztecs did not 'fail.' The club chooses to develop players rather than import them to win tournaments. This just shows how bad the GPS developmental program is. You need to import players to win games! GPS club is dirty and the parents should be ashamed to be part of it.

It was a newly formed team of 2002s--meaning that it had some kids who are currently playing U12 (Jan-July) and some who are currently at U11 (Aug-Dec). That's what clubs are supposed to create for this tournament, so nothing wrong with GPS doing so. What is somewhat bogus was the manner in which this tournament was promoted (or, to be more accurate, not promoted), which prevented various other clubs from doing the same. Many of the best 2002s in MA are playing U12 on other clubs, but the notice of this tournament was only provided to the clubs after they had registered teams with different years. GPS clearly wanted to avoid what happened last year, when it was promoted properly and a real 2001 team came up from VA or MD and smoked their all-star team. Mission accomplished.

This season Valeo had girls clinics and this week there will be a girls tryout. Valeo appears to be lining themselves up to go back to NEP.

Question I have is whether with all these additional teams -- will Valeo run out of space in Newton.

Really? How do you go from barely winning 4-3 to 11-0 in 2 days? You exchange several kids from the roster by submitting a new one before playoffs. Typical GPS. Post the rules, and then change them, but not tell anyone.

Doe the center ref carry an original roster (i.e. at the time of team registration) that he/she has to compare with that handed before each game? Are there player pass cards??

If you have proof that they "submitted a new roster" after the tourney started, then that is an issue. If they just had some already-rostered kids show up for Monday who did not play Sat/Sun, then that is OK. Pathetic and GPS-like, but its OK.

....if not then you can hand in a new roster each game

Upset about 11 years old playing soccer game? surely you have more important stuff at work to be worrying about?

Pathfinder- you have been impartial and edifying on this site. I'm disappointed to read that you find no fault in this.

                    - a tournament leading to national and perhaps international acclaim extremely hidden by the hosts (GPS)
                    - a team entered violating age rules that is known by only the hosts (GPS NH/GPS hosts)
                    - different team composition from two days to final (GPS MA)

It's certainly unsportsmanlike in entirety -

While it's true that stacking the team with the best 2002's is the winning strategy, a combination of these behaviors makes GPS questionable in abiding by rules they set for others. Intentionally dishonest instead of competitive and something to be looked up to.

Normal M?GPS parents are threatened and anxious about their tactics and dishonesty. Never mind Aztec, which should rightly contest their win.

You're right. No other club has kids miss a game on one day and show up the next. No other club has kids who play other sports or have conflicts and may have to miss a game. Only GPS does. (please insert the sarcasm here in case you're not bright enough to pick it up on your own)

It's true. If you're from MA and were MPS, screw you. We used your $ to fly in the real soccer stars instead of developing your kids .

All their GPS teams are always newly created teams who have never played before. Search prior threads for this string and it will always be in reference to some GPS team.

The event was not even posted on the Needham Memorial Day tournament site. Coaches were asked to change over a U11 or U12 team already registered to a VW 2002 calendar team. The coaches were given short deadlines and the accepted teams list did not even have a separate VW section. The clubs who had entered wondered whether there really was a VW section and how many teams actually entered. Coaches were sent emails stating that the VW section needed a few more teams and it was all very nebulous as to whether there was a section until the VW site posted Needham as a regional site. And even then, there was no link to the VW Junior Masters. Nor was there a mechanism to register a specific VW team through GotSoccer.

Meanwhile, GPS is out scouting players. They putt together a team with 2001's to play 'friendlies' against younger teams. If one was suspicious, one might think that this NH GPS 2001 team was put in there to tire the other teams out so GPS mediocre team could slide in and change their rosters last minute. And because it was GPS, everyone is suspicious and disgusted because this happens all the time with them.

Why can't GPS run a clean tournament and play by the same rules that everyone else does?

The 4-3 win for GPS on Saturday was a good game, and very close, however the score flattered Aztec who might have conceded a few more goals. GPS hit a couple posts and missed close chances. On Monday, the game was much different. Aztec seemed tired and were over matched physically, likely by the U12s on the GPS team. GPS also scored most of their goals over the Aztec GK who was brave and kept trying, but was not at fault for any of the goals conceded.

GPS does nothing to help themselves by "intentionally?" fielding over age players in this tournament. Who does that? When you bend the rules in one instance, it is easy to jump to the conclusion that they would bend the rules in another instance.

                                Obviously, they are never penalized!
How is it "legal" to enter a team with 2001s in a tournament for 2002 & younger?
How is it ok to hide this tournament and "stock" it so they are guaranteed to win? No one is doubting that Md , VA, NY teams would be competitive but for MA sake, soccer here will not improve if we don't get the right competition here. - "hiding" this tourni is a sham. Stacking it is as well. GPS ought to be reprimanded
