I wouldn't be surprised if some of those crying foul are GPS parents who are pissed (rightfully so perhaps) that their players were set aside for the superstars to wander in and play in the final game(s). Hard to tell sometimes.

The question really should be why did teams such as Aztecs, NU/Valeo enter a tournament which was made for 2002 year of births with 2003's. Your coaches set you up to fail and that you did.

      Deal with it.
No the question is why does GPS feel it's entitled to tamper with rosters in the middle of a tournament?

What actual evidence is there of "roster tampering"? There is absolutely nothing wrong with using guest players or having players join in to play just for the playoffs, as long as they are listed on the rosters that were submitted for the tournament. Nor is there anything wrong with using players from outside a club--again, so long as they are listed on the rosters that were submitted. I am no GPS/MPS defender--I have long felt that that organization has had a remarkably negative influence on youth soccer development in Mass, and that they have engaged in ethically questionable behavior on other occasions (research some roster-related incidents from prior years, or just look at how the promotion of this VW event was handled this year, compared to how it was handled prior years). But unless somebody has something more concrete, I have yet to hear anything indicating that they actually did anything wrong here.

I don't see how that makes a club arrogant. The truth is the Valeo United team would have loved to have played the stacked GPS team. Nobody cares where the players came from. Unfortunately they did not have a good semi finals game. Good luck in Portland.

So to be clear...was this GPS Elite (MA) team one of their NEP league teams or was it an all star team comprised of the best players throughout the GPS programs around the country?

My best guess is that post #42 has it correct.

"This team was comprised of players from Mass, NH, NC, ME and NY. They had a roster of 14 all weekend and it was exactly the same."

Sounds specific enough that this poster knows the situation. Honestly, if it was the same roster all weekend and they utilized guest players for specific games... I don't see an issue. They may run into complaints with their in-house (so to speak) players / parents. So, that's a risk. But those that are complaining about roster tampering or whatever... don't have a leg to stand on at this point. I do think that GPS has talked about these all star teams being put together and utilized at times so it shouldn't be a surprise to those involved in the club.

And your proof is? Inconsistent play? And that bothers you why? Because you had already booked the hotel room in Portland.

It was a combination of players from their franchises as mentioned above. The fact people only think they won due to roster tampering is laughable. They had the better players who had never played as a team before they kicked a ball on Saturday.

I don't really care who won the tournament i just find threads that accuse clubs of cheating are great. If they wanted to cheat i am sure they would have had a bigger roster than 14

Dose the center ref hold an original roster or is he/she only given the roster from each coach (or manager) for each game i.e. nothing to compare anything to.

Certainly not cheating to put an all star team together for a tournament but GPS parents shouldn't be thumping their chests because they beat some local U11 teams.

Didn't "terrorize" Barca. don't even remember #11 there (at the 4-1 game ) Did GPS MA pull the same thing GPS NH did? 2001 out of a magic hat ?"

Should tourneys take team photos before each game? It's done at the highest levels of the sport.
there was no "terror" #11 when the 8-man Barca team held the mighty 11 man GPS back for 30 min. Unless Barca was actually the best! Yes,! they were!

NO Terrible #11 GPS player on that field. all average - none outstanding
