Black Liberal equates to being a democrat in 99.5% of the population. Although there are republicans that are liberal in that the word only means 'open to ideas and free discussion', most would not equate the two.

I am white and have experienced racism. Being black does not automatically qualify you as an expert since not all blacks experience racism (at times just the opposite) and racism does not only apply to blacks.
    Really?

Can't we at least agree that, on balance, blacks probably have had more first-hand experience with serious racism than whites, and that racism is more fundamentally a part of black history than white history?[/QUOTE]

Sure...but how long will blacks continue to yell racism?....and at what point should the world express outrage at what a leader like Mugabe has done in Africa?
Although we agree that racism exists across this country and in the world, do you really feel that Blacks are still the dominant target? Would you deny that reverse racism exists? Could we just call this racism also? Should blacks born today be able to claim some kind of reparations for something that happened in the past.....historically speaking?

We don't really want to do this, do we? There is plenty of active racism still present against blacks that we don't even need to talk about reparations or history. Just open up the paper or scan the news. And I don't hear blacks yelling "racism," except when it is obvious and blatant, and in general I don't hear them using racism as an excuse. Sure, reverse racism exists, but it's nearly the problem as "regular" racism. And, yes, the atrocities in many countries are outrageous...and tragic...and I'm appalled that we do almost nothing about them while we'll put down our flag in the Middle East or Europe at a moment's notice. Let's talk about the US knowing about the concentration camps in Germany and Poland and could have bombed the railroad tracks carrying 6 million Jews to their deaths but chose not to do so. We could talk about a ton of things, but this thread started by someone calling Ronaldo a "douche" and then someone else comparing him to a "modern gorilla," followed the the usual denial and defensiveness that always dominate these kind of discussions.

Perspective is the personificatino of the classic "guilty liberal", so quick to jump into the race baiting and implying racism where there is none. Gorillas beat their chests, Ronaldo beat his chest. End of story.

What country do you live in??
Every time some disagrees with Obama, racism is being argued....
how many cases have there been in Boston alone where Blacks have been given jobs over whites simply based on skin color and not ability.....that is racism as well.
Are you truly going to tell me that blacks do not use the racism argument to gain a foothold?
Diversity for diversity sake is the effect of racism.

but we do agree that race does not have any place in the Ronaldo discussion

You family emigrated from their homeland and were able to integrate without stigma in a generation. My ancestors were kidnapped from their homes subjected to the horrors of the transatlantic passage, slavery, Jim Crow, Segregation, etc.... The immigration experience while not easy is simply not comparable to that. It is insulting to me to equate the two.

This argument is ludicrous. Boston is about 25% black. There is generally a gap of about 18% between white and black unemployment rates in Boston.

Lets take the Boston Fire department for instance. I cribbed the following from the Globe:

Nearly 90 percent of firefighters hired since the consent decree ended in 2003 are white. And minority firefighters operate under a glass ceiling: Of the department’s 72 high-ranking officers, 69 are white.
This in a city that is only 53% white.

I am going to drop out of this conversation as I come to TS for soccer chat and I don't think forums are the best media for this type of discussion.

Forcepush great wisdom added to a conversation that is so off track. Your FACTS are what makes an argument and Perspective does not know how to use them. He has shown his ignorance and racism and he can not go back on it.

When he is backed into a corner he attacks peoples intellect and spelling errors. Then the thesaurus comes out and the vebiage spews from his suck. You have brought a ray of sunshine to a moronic conversation. I am not a racist by any means but I have used innapropriate words that I am not denying so I have contributed to this problem. But I know who I am and what I believe in. Perspectives word choices are reprehensible to say the least and he has ruined TS since his first post. He calls out his enemy BTDT but he is far worse than the latter. Happy Veterans day to all. Perspective you want to take a pot shot at the veterans too while your at it?

Thanks, BTDT. Seen you do this a 100 times. Exploit another poster by praising him to death in a totally ingratiating way just so you can try to score with me. Pathetic. And, as you know, I called out the racism....not the other way around.

Are you saying that representation on every level should directly reflect the population instead of those who better qualify? Are you suggesting that the gap in unemployment is the direct result of racism vs. those who apply and qualify? Do you have irrefutable proof that, in recent times, whites are hired instead of blacks in specific leadership roles?
Based on your argument we should hire based on race and not based on ability, and that places of business need to hire more blacks to directly represent the population instead of basing it on ability or qualifications.
If this 'diversity for diversity sake' practice is what you preach then you are asking people to treat one race differently than another which is racism.
By the way, when will the NBA demand that there be more white basketball players, which currently amount to about 10% of the total player pool? Don't you think that football should change the color makeup of the running backs and wide receivers? Afterall, the black population is demanding that there be more black owners.
......and there should definitely be more black soccer players in the United States.

Wait.....I have an idea. Instead of jumping on to the race card whenever the opportunity arises, let's remove race from this entire conversation and speak about whether or not Ronaldo's behavior was reprehensible or not, which I, personally, do not believe it was that bad.
