Coon and porch monkey perspective should not be used anywhere. Also never to make a point. You are what is wrong with society and your right you should say "SORRY" amd "I GUESS I MADE A MISTAKE". You are despicable in many ways and you show it everyday with your ignorance on this board.

Keep telling yourself your a good person. To me with those comments and no apology you are a racist. Your comments go against what society is moving forward to get and that is equality. It is 2014 not 1940.
Perspective reminds of all the holier-than-thoughs like Newt Gingrich, Elliot Spitzer et. al. Railing hardest against the sinners but later revealed to be degenerate drug addicts and whore-mongers. Or the Jim Baker's, who vehemently denounce homosexuality, only to be discovered to be closet homosexuals.
    Hypocrites. Puke.

And this is the second time you've used those terms in a post without an apology (and the second term you introduced yourself and seem to really enjoy saying).
Oh right so if I take out a thesaurus and add some cool words I would be like you. See this is a forum where the average person reads. I am an educated professional but im not ignorant. I dont use these words in my every day endeavors. Perspective you didnt sign in this time. Oh thats right you want it to look like someone is on your side. Ignoramous.

Sorry you feel the need to pile on.

My crime here was pointing out that a word used in the context it was used was a slur. Of course, what did we expect when we started out with 'douche'? I apologize if you felt my pointing out something as derogatory was offensive.

How stupid are you going to make yourself look?

"I am an educated professional but im not ignorant."

That's a very odd sentence. Most would say "I am an educated professional AND (or therefore) I am not ignorant."

Exactly what kind of educated professional are you? And will still be interested to hear how you co-workers react to being called a 'gorilla'.

Awe freak, Perspective hijacks another thread

I was enjoying a little light hearted calling out of a pompous self consumed athlete, and whoops there it went. Perspective snuck in and hijacked another thread.

I've got no recourse - sorry to stoop to this level - but I'm retitling the thread...

However for people to make this into a racist argument or discussion on 'where Ronaldo's roots come from, is just plain ignorant.

I am not sure why you feel the need to identify yourself as a 'Black Democrat' except to legitimize your comments as coming from some kind of position of authority. Your identity does not give you any kind of moral backing beyond that of anyone else. Both Obama and Patrick try to do such, however, they both did not suffer growing up and benefitted greatly by being black...............

Racism exists, only it is multi-directional, which is consistent with the fact that Racism is defined as unequal treatment of a group. It does not distinguish which group or the characteristics of one or the other.

What Ronaldo did has nothing to do with racism. He scored a goal on an international arena which was full of passion...........and, yes, some ego and narcissism. He is a great player who is playing a great game.
Rolando is Ronaldo's better looking twin brother. If I was going to call someone out on a typo I might make sure that I spelled 'Benefitted' correctly.

If you had read taken the time to read my post more carefully I think you might have figured out that I don't think that what Ronaldo did had anything to do with racism. What I was writing is that I don't think that calling Ronaldo a Gorilla is racist and that I didn't think he behaved in a fashion that was any different from what we see from any other top tier player.

Being black and having actually experienced racism does give me some bona fides when talking about racism. I never mentioned that I was a Democrat but did say I was a liberal because someone had previously posted...

Notwithstanding the ridiculous 'bunch of women comment above' I thought it was worth noting that you could be a liberal and not feel Ronaldo was a gorilla. I just don't feel that calling Ronaldo a gorilla is racist.

Sorry you feel that I ruined your thread. It certainly was shaping up to be an instant classic. From now on I'll be sure not to comment on foul language, slurs, taunts, or obvious racism, misogyny or homophobia (yours included).

So what do you feel calling him a gorilla in the context of 'ancestral' ranks as? Did you find the term a compliment? Did you find the term appropriate, meaning that you endorse the usage?

Amen. I wouldn't call anyone a douche, actually, but P is a colossal bore and ruins threads with his PC finger wagging. Devoid of any sense of humor and can't let the little things go.

Talk of Ronaldo's showboating reminds me of a 60 minutes sports profile of US men's coach that aired recently. Talking how he was going to shake things up (cutting Landon Donovan a few weeks later the first significant sign of changes to come) and included interviews with veterans players. Tim Howard said the Americans "are too nice" and don't go for all the dramatics that you see in Europe and how that hurts them.

So when in Rome, or Portugal or Spain as the case may be......Ronaldo is doing what his country and his fans expect. And he's got the goods to back up the bravado, so there you go. He's probably a handful in real life, but I get a kick out of the chest thumping.

                        Douche

A douche /ˈduːʃ/ is a device used to introduce a stream of water into the body for medical or hygienic reasons, or the stream of water itself.

Douche usually refers to ******l irrigation, the rinsing of the ******, but it can also refer to the rinsing of any body cavity. A douche bag is a piece of equipment for douching—a bag for holding the fluid used in douching. To avoid transferring intestinal bacteria into the ******, the same bag must not be used for an enema and a ******l douche.

Douching after sexual intercourse is not an effective form of birth control.[1] Additionally it is associated with a number of health problems (cervical cancer, pelvic inflammatory disease, endometritis, and increased risk of sexually transmitted infections) and thus is not recommended.[2]

I don't think there is anything in this definition that relates to any soccer player!!!!!

We agree that racism has no part in the discussion of Ronaldo. That is good.
Black Liberal equates to being a democrat in 99.5% of the population. Although there are republicans that are liberal in that the word only means 'open to ideas and free discussion', most would not equate the two.

I am white and have experienced racism. Being black does not automatically qualify you as an expert since not all blacks experience racism (at times just the opposite) and racism does not only apply to blacks.

                            Really?

Can't we at least agree that, on balance, blacks probably have had more first-hand experience with serious racism than whites, and that racism is more fundamentally a part of black history than white history?

I didn't like his display either, mainly because he celebrated like he had just won the World Cup for Portugal with a last minute goal and in fact he was disappointing throughout the game and his eventual PK was meaningless as already noted.

That said, are you trying to have a Donald Sterling moment?
This was my first post on this topic in response to the "Ronaldo showed our ancestral connection to the modern gorilla," and I expected it to be my last. It seemed rather self-evident to me and what followed has been frankly stunning. And I thought my response WAS humorous. I thought, "why go there," and the Donald Sterling reference, to me, was funny.

                                One last thought...

Imagine the opposing coach in the press conference after the Champions League final stating in anger that "Ronaldo acted like a modern gorilla." Not even a blip on the screen? Or a significant story?

Really trying to understand what I am missing, or if I am simply trying to reason with people who really do have no clue and I'm wasting my time.

In this regard, I am hoping forcepush71 will respond to my earlier questions because perhaps I will learn something here as well.

[And what does 'modern' mean? Is that in contrast to a dinosaur-era gorilla?]
