Probably the right soccer move by Klinsmann. But I can't lie, it's still bums me out a little that we won't see Donovan in the World Cup this time around.

Donovan was still playing the prima donna on the ESPN show on the US WC team. I suspect enough players were tired enough of his drama queen routine that they are secretly very happy. Surely a lot of thought went into this, good move IMO to solidify the squad.

Klinsmann did this to make a statement about who is the boss. Better Donovan than Bradley as the example, but Donovan also is one of the few players one can picture scoring for the US in a world cup game.

maybe his parents should start a thread here? They could start by bashing Bradley? Or the coach, or the politics involved? It probably has to do with the Stars coach that keeps getting bashed on here.

Does anyone else see the irony here? People, myself included, constantly cry for letting your child's play do the talking. Kids should make teams based on current performance. Am I right? These same people said players like Wamboch should step down and give the younger players a shot. If so, why shouldn't you desire this same thing for our men's World Cup team?

It can be easily argued that Donovan WAS the best US player, but even he has public ally acknowledged that age is taking its toll. The US has little chance of winning any games as it is, and Klinsman has said all along that roster spots must be earned. Sometimes, reality is a bitter pill to swallow ....and this, my friends, is one of those times. Getting old sucks.

Or that they wasted their money on club soccer. Only three world cup teams.

LD will come our looking just fine. The reality is, the US will be lucky to get 1 point in the group they got stuck in, so the buzz from the media will be ... correctly or not ... "Klinsmann should not have cut Landon Donovan, THAT'S why the US did so poorly." Klinsmann is in a no win situation, quite literally, with or without LD.

This squad is preparation for 2018. JK knows he has a snowballs chance in hel. um Brazil of making it past the first round.

If that's your logic, why just LD and EJ? Jozy A, is that really the best the US has?
oddly enough, we will see EJ in Foxboro Saturday

Klinsmann has played and managed at the highest level that exists. He has excelled at both. Methinks he knows what it takes to win now....and to build a program. Donovan was done after this year. Klinsmann did not value his leadership enough to keep him around for his swan song. Strong message to the guys that made the 23 man roster, new era is here. If you do not perform you will be replaced.
