Half these parents are willing to drive two hours twice a week for a one and half hour practice when they should be studying.
    you're an idiot!

Anyone should NOT be allowed to start a club. That's amateur hour and that's what town soccer is for. Club soccer should be a combination of great coaching and excellent business sense. Any Dad who thinks because he used to play soccer he could start a club (you know who you are) is just going to embarrass himself and his kids!

So DL of NU embarrassed himself and his kids? Really. He has 2 top teams compromised of very local talent. Now that says development. Very local talent just doesn't happen at that level in that concentration.

My son got cut by NU but that doesn't mean I cannot appreciate the end product.

In a free market society, anyone should be able to start a club and it is either going to flourish or die out/merge.

If that is amateur hour, we all need to set our clock to that time! Because it is $2k cheaper than its competitor, it has more training, and is about as small as you get.

And yet some of those amateur hour clubs will be competing in the State Cup semis against the "pros".

If by "excellent business sense" you mean clubs charging thousands of dollars to parents of kids who just get to wear the same jersey as the elite teams, then I think we agree.
