Does the Stars DOC have the power to push players to the NT?

Bottom line is finally someone has called JD out for what he is doing. Hopefully the powers at US Soccer stop listening to him and become willing to explore other options besides the players on his team. His word will start to lose its significance if he promotes the "one and done" players.

Who has called out JD? Some anonymous poster on a soccer forum? Good luck getting traction on that one. I'm sure that the USNT people that work with him are carefully monitoring the Mass TS site and will change their minds.

This is a curious strategy by the Stars haters out there. You're essentially attacking the Stars DOC for having too much influence on the national scene. Wouldn't that attract good players to the Stars brand? Aren't you telling your elite players that if JD whispers a promise in your ear that he's the only guy in Mass that can make it come true? How do you expect those players and their ultra-ambitious parents to respond?

Curious you say? Why is that any more curious than the spat of Stars announcements about their U14's getting invited to national camps? Those threads do actually put this one into context don't they? It's not to transparent attempt at saying "see I did for these kids, I can do it for you" The sad part is he is just hurting future Stars talent in the long run because the national team actually makes a point of telling everyone that they have no tolerance for this sort of stuff. When you boil it all down him leveraging the clubs future like this is all the more reason to not go to the Stars if you are a younger player.

It is marketing gold, and NEFC probably has a contract out on the Stars hater who began this thread. My guess is two guys in bad suits are already in a car heading up from Providence to take care of business.

Why would BB leave? He doesn't coach ECNL. He can continue to play second fiddle with NPL and those 2 former NEFC superstars will never cross paths with BB!

He wouldn't leave but he should tell JD what's in store for him if he reunites the Nefc elite girl he took last year with the two he's looking to take from this year. Maybe JD can put an end to all the jealous BS that BB couldn't. Reuniting those girls and families is a disaster in the making. Jmo

If your point is to call out one or more of the Stars kids who got invites for being unworthy, why beat around the bush? Otherwise, why is it so hard for everyone to just give them a chance to prove themselves, or not. Fact is, there are quite a few kids who will go to this (and any other) NT Camp who will end up being 'one and done.' That does not mean they never deserved an invitation in the first place, it just means that the NT staff saw a kid from somewhere else that was even more compelling, or they were just looking for something different than what that kid had to offer. Where I come from (not Stars Country, by the way), there is no shame in that.

One thing that was interesting in all of this is, in his obvious excitement to tout the three Stars invitees, JD seems to have believed that those would be the only three going from MA. Once the Aztec keeper was announced a couple days later, that went right out the window. Sort of creates a question of just how tied in JD really is to the whole thing.

The truly sad thing is that kid was almost that and that message was completely buried by P who turned her into a fantasy so he could protect the Stars image.

LOL. Buried? No one had thought for a second about Suzie's kid for a full year. P actually is the one who revived the story, not burying it. In fact, nothing real was ever claimed or defended at the time either. Are you saying this really happened? When you suggest that the kid almost did end up in an institution can you tell us exactly what DID happen, and how is this doing now? What club is she with now and is she committed?

You're way off base. I am a neutral observer in this and was neither slamming for alleged control, nor for lack of alleged control. My view is that kids from any club should be able to make it -- based on merit.

Other than that, the first point was nothing more than; Let's see whether the kids going to this camp end up lasting or not.

The second point was; The evidence suggests JD believed his three were going to be the only ones invited. When that proved to be untrue, it called into question how much the Stars DOC is on the inside of all the decision making -- which had been the main allegation against Stars up to that point. Nothing more, nothing less.
