I would think that you could start that thread under

Match fit vs stars. And then bash them in that , however this thread is ECNL San Diego .....that would mean comments on stars and scorpions in San Diego .....

This is great. Congrats to the girls and the team. Everyone does bash the Mass and NE teams that they can't compete outside the state, so it is nice to see them being successful. Whether you are part of Stars or not, I would think that if you are on this forum, you have a child playing soccer in Massachusetts. It is great to see success in your backyard. There are some amazing soccer players across the country and I'm sure there was amazing soccer in San Diego this past weekend.

We are stars and we approve this message. 2-2-2 in San Diego isn't very good in my opinion. .500= very average. Every time stars travels they go about 500. When they play in ECNL northeast division which is probably the worse division in all of ECNL they win almost all their games. What kind of kool aid are they drinking in C. Mass.

2-2-2 means that you are competitive, but not the best in whatever league or bracket that you're competing in. 0-6 means you aren't very good, and probably didn't belong where you've been placed. 6-0 means that you are the best around, but then you'll probably get slammed for playing in a "weak league."

Sounds to me as if they were competitive, worth watching, and probably didn't have dozens of college coaches sprinting away from their games to some other field.

Were they expected to go undefeated and to dominate every game? How would the other Mass-based teams have done in the same circumstances? You know the answer to that, but won't admit it.

There's no winning with the critics in TS-land.

You make an interesting point about the relative strength of the regions, but on the other side of the ledger, travelling to these types of events provides teams with an opportunity to face what may be stronger overall competition than what they might typically see playing in their home region. You might even argue that going .500 on one of these trips is providing exactly what is best for the club, because it means they have been afforded good, solid competition in exchange for their commitment of time and $. Contrast the value they get from a .500 record, with a trip that offers a level of challenge that is not well suited to the travelling team, and results in a series of blow out wins, for example.

A club that is paying attention should be able to turn a .500 experience in SD into an advantage over the longer term, at least if you ask me, because it has offered the participants a new/different challenge and gives them perspective on where they sit relative to players and clubs from the west coast, southeast, or what have you.

Notice I didn't necessarily argue that it keeps them humble, however :)

One team was 2-0-1 and the other was 0-1-1. So really they hurt themselves by trying to make the U16 team look better.

Just keep in mind that the U16 team played the National Champions and runner up from last year in their age group

That's a productive comeback. Which teams have your little Mia's team played thus far that compare to those 2 teams? Right, didn't think so.

Give me a break. Your team is barely hanging on for the playoffs and it has nothing to do with 2 games in California. There are a lot of strong teams in the ECNL. You should feel lucky that you got a chance to play against great competition. I am sure if you played those teams 5 times, you would get a win. Soccer is one of those games. You look like an idiot when you make excuses.

How good can U16's be anyhow? Don't they have 3 girls from that putrid state of RI??

Barely hanging on - that's funny. You know just enough to be dangerous to yourself but very little about what the actual situation is. Go fly a kite.

When does NEFC finally replace Scorpions in this supposed premier league?

You 16 parents are wacko. I knew you would bite. Please set me straight. As I see it, you are in second place in your division which gives you an automatic birth into the playoffs. However, overall, you are in 32 place and have no wild card slot. If you lose a couple of games in your conference, then you may not even make it as a wild card. CFC is nipping at your heals. You are lucky because CFC has to play the PA teams and you have already gotten those under your belt. How am I doing?
