Clubs like CSU and NSU will never be able to compete with the likes of the Stars or NEFC because they don't have the pedigree to get into their country clubs. If they can't get into their country club they won't have the same level of prestige and without that level of prestige they won't have the same level of demand for their roster spots. Best thing those two clubs can do is merge with one of the bigger clubs. Other than that they will be history inside of 5 years.

The NE Rush is an interesting situation. They actually have a lot to offer but they don't have a strong enough synergy here in New England yet to do anything. The old Falcons entity was just too small of an operation to compete with the big boys. Look for the Rush to start acquiring a bunch of small little clubs to piece together a power base. It will be a couple of years before they are in a position to have an impact around here.
Stars doesn't need to merge with anyone now. They just set up satellite branches with bug name coaches (gc. In the north and Bb in the South) and eventually word of mouth spreads and kids leave these other clubs like NSU Aztecs or CSU to become part of the fiefdom.

This would actually make a good b-school lecture. Acquisition or start-up, which is best to invest. One thing is pretty clear, the bigger clubs need to get bigger if they want to compete favorably on a regional and national level. The small clubs will continue fill a niche need but it doesn't take a Wharton grad to see that niche will likely get smaller.

In something like club soccer where a big name coach can draw talent away from other clubs my guess is a start-up would work for regional expansion. Why spend the money for acquisition when this model is working? The other option is to recruit well known coaches from other moderately successful clubs and you will probably get their following as well. I would follow my kid's club coach for at least a year or two, no matter what organization he joined. So Stars you've already hired BB, KD, MK. What about other well knowns like NJ, DS, JH... and throw some Seacoast folks in there like CS and oila! Fiefdom on an even grander scale.

With Fiefdoms come egos. Egos are what is holding the whole environment back. They can't get along well enough to see the forest for the trees.

People will pay to hear their kids are something special for the most part they should just play town and save their money it is a scam that is why you have clubs like CSU, Galway and select. They will all lose the best players on their teams by age 12 because they want what the small clubs cannot give them exposure. They exist because parents believe the hype and do not understand that club soccer is nothing more than a business and just want to feel their kid is special.

Stars 3rd team? It's nice the league is competitive but it's not like they are beating NEFC or Stars top teams.

What stars team? The top team is in ECNL. The second team in NPL. The third I think is in NEP. So must be their 4th or 5th team?

Considering all of the pontificating the older parents do on this forum, this post has to be one of the funniest I have read in a while. Talk about the disconnect between what a typical parent from one of the ECNL or NEFC teams is seeing and what the rank and file from those same clubs are seeing. First off, you still have people in the older age groups who don't believe NEFC matters. Second off, they still believe that there is some reasonable formula where are all of these teams get tightly slotted into a hierarchy. They couldn't be more out of tune with reality.

Third team is in Maple D1. CSU first team is a good team. They would do well against Stars NPL as well and probably beat Scorpions ECNL.
Good for them. Someone is doing something right in that club.

Is this the CSU team that lost to Fuller Hamlets 0-2? And you say they can beat the Scorpions ECNL - arrogant comment possibly? you have no data to support your claim.

Even worse, they got their shot at them this August and lost... Explain that.

No explanation necessary. Just able to give both teams a good game is all.

The Scorpions ECNL tied NSU at Needham tournament. There are teams in MAPLE D1 that are evenly matched with NSU. Therefore to say that CSU stands no chance of beatings scorpions ECNL is beating short sighted. S-ECNL is not a dominant team. They would likely win but by no means a guarantee.

The top teams in MAPLE may not represent the absolute best there is but there are some good players that have potential to develop further. There is no need to sell them short.

At the pre-HS ages are you all still so fixated on who would beat whom? I guess these are all your first-born kids. Presumably you will become wiser than this at some point.
