there are not many MPS kids going to division 1 schools. Is this a statement of the club or reflecting that many top MPS kids go to the Academy at U14 or U16 and, therefore are registered as Bolts, Revs, or Seacoast?

The Super Y ODP program was undervalued by coaches

The later. DAP and ECNL offers one-stop-shopping for college coaches. Others can break through, but you still better be at a top club playing top tournaments and be aggressive in marketing yourself.

There are not many non DAP players that go to D1 schools period. That's just a fact and the way it is. DAP is the primary recruiting ground for D1. Will be interesting to see how many Blazers from the now U18 team that end up at D1 schools - that is the last non-DAP team that might have more than one or two players headed to D1.

Very few MA kids go d1, period. The average has been about 10-15 a year. In the list above, you have to exclude those who came to MA for prep school. For this class at least, very few MPS players went to the DAPs. The vast majority of MPS best players in this class are on the knights (check out how they dominated state cup this year in winning their 3d in a row), and most of them are going d3 and not listed above.

                  Looking at the above list:

45% of the D1 kids were DAP
12% were Western (mostly to UMass)
7% were ISL w/o/apparent Club affiliation
36% were from many other clubs

Point being that is if you are tops on other club teams you may get a D1 slot, although most of those teams are lower level D1's.
Also note that Blazers/MPS have not reported commits for 2014 yet. This is late for them.

Exclude the prep schoolers who wouldn't be MA club players, and exclude the transfers and PG kids because they were part of an earlier HS class, and there still seems to be 30+ d1 players this year. That's way above average. It will be interesting to see if this is a trend or an unusually deep 2014 class.

With your same criteria there were 30+ D1 last year as well....

OP here. Yes with some help the rules have loosened, yet the last several years, the numbers are still higher. Some is UML, NU, and PC coach connections. When I analyzed who played a lot in the 2013 class, it wasn't much over 10 as in years before, implying that the increase was mainly in depth players. I'll see how this year goes for all four classes.

Don't you feel it is unrealistic to expect huge contributions from freshman? Is it just me who doesn't really think the playing time numbers matter until at the VERY least sophomore year but more realistically junior

Your comments make sense, but over my 5 years doing this the playing time by class doesn't improve on aggregate as a class matures. Looking at it in detail, some players do develop and play more, others fade for various reasons.
