It is still very early. I looked back at 2012 commitments and on Jan. 18, 2012 there were 13 players listed. This list actually is longer. A bulk of acceptances only recently went out in the last 2 or 3 weeks and my guess is this forum is not the first place people broadcast their intentions.

I have to ask... why is this important? Its great these kids are going to college and might get to play the game they love. But how to help anyone that doesn't know them personally?

Vassar is d3 how can one commit to a place that has no scholarship? What is one "commiting" to? There is no national letter of intent. Does that mean he got into the school and will play soccer there too?

a lot of good schools on this list. the question I have is will these players play? it seems like a lot of players mentioned in the past few years, only a 1/3 or so end up actually on the team.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostOne can commit by applying Early Decision. The student is committing to attend, if accepted. Less formally, one can receive a letter from the coach that the coach will support the applicant with the admissions staff. Often, the applicant has indicated to the coach that the coach's school is the applicant's 1st choice. So it might mean the applicant has already been accepted, or it might be more a handshake/moral agreement. Either way, it means the applicant will have a chance to play soccer, which for many coaches is an obligation that they won't cut the applicant their freshman year. In subsequent years, it's up to the player to earn a spot on the team by playing well enough.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostOP here. My primary target is parents of Soph/Jun players. The idea is to help them gauge how many and what type of player is going to the various levels in college. These parents often are aware of the kids a year or two ahead, so hopefully this helps them aim there kid at the right level. I know that doing this analysis has helped me as a coach better advise players. I prefer not to have any individual discussion of players, as that can sometimes lead to trouble. So if I do comment, it is always in a positive vein.
