If anyone saw 60 Minutes last year about the City of Springfield, MA they would think twice about going to school in that city. Now they have Mass State Troopers patrolling in the city it's that bad.

Also like wise with Springfield great school but each year you see less and less athletes going there and I know overall student body for incoming frosh is low. Also look at one years soccer team to next year seems like players leave/transfer. Is it because overall the city of Springfield is such a terrible area.

This about sums it up on Springfield, MA

Springfield ranked 12th 'most dangerous' city in U.S-

It is also enough to rank Springfield more dangerous than Washington, D.C.,

Yup not sure I want my kid to go to school in that city.

Assumption soccer not a good program, losing proposition, school puts nothing into the program. Girls program starting to win, boys 4 straight losing seasons with same coach. Academically a winner, Soccer losing program.

Have you been to LA? You must mean USC. UCLA is in a nice section.

True - but compare the quality of the schools listed vs Springfield.

Yep. and comparing some of the greatest cities in the world to Springfield is more than a little ridiculous.

So what is the underlying problem to the question posed by the writer with regards to lack of players going to Springfield College to play soccer and to Assumption College compared to prior years commits ?

Is it due to Springfield loacation and crime issues and Assumptions 4 straight losing seasons and lack of commit by school to program ?

Is this poster claiming that BU, NU, Georgetown and UCLA are in bad sections of cities? Somebody needs to get out a little more.

Hey, any city that Homer and Bart live in must be famous.

The most recent report I can find on this is 2010 and the most dangerous campus in the USA according to Time magazine is.......................

#1 is Tufts with 37 or so forcible rapes, plus some other stuff.

                          #2 is Harvard

Don't see Springfield on that list.

                          How about them apples.

Surprised about University of Hartford. I have not been there in at least 7-8 years but the campus is actually in West Hartford, well away from the Downtown area. Wonder if they mean Trinity, which is in a bad section of Hartford?

Baltimore does NOT surprise me at all. The Waterfront area and Camden Yards is nice but the rest of the city is SCARY
