MM is already on the list for UMass, which is where he is actually headed, not UMass Lowell.

One website has him at both schools.

When will we start seeing all the names of the public school boys who are heading to college to play soccer?

Indeed, more than half of the players on the list attend public schools.

Maybe the poster meant non DAP players? There's a few but the list is dominated by Bolts and Revs. I've got a HS freshman who may or may not want to try for D1 but has absolutely no interest in DA, so I hope there are more HS players out there.

If your boy desires to play D1 Men's College soccer then he should attempt to play DAP...no question or debate about it, and this is coming from a non-DAP household, assuming he is within reasonable travel distance to Revs, Bolts, and/or Seacoast. 95% of the D1 commits come from DAP that is just fact. However, even if playing DAP don't expect much athletic D1 $$$ scholarship money because there is only so much in Men's soccer and it's not nearly as much as for women's soccer....there is some on the Men's side, but only so much. If D2 or D3 were his destination, then not playing DAP is a different story, but if he wants D1 then he honestly should get himself onto a DAP team as soon as possible.

I agree. There will be plenty of D1 players who come from non-DAP clubs, but the path to D1 is just so much easier via DAP. And D1 coaches often ask their non-DAP commits to play DAP until they graduate to prepare for the speed of play they will face in college.

Thanks for the advice but he doesn't want to give up his HS team or basketball in the winter. He will continue to play with a high level club in the winter/spring. He would only try for D1 for the challenge/level of competition, not for non-existent scholarship dollars. If it happens, great. If not, that's fine too. He's happy and doing well in school and that's all I care about.

Dap makes recruiting easy for coaches, it is a filtering method. Real easy for schools like NE.

Lets see how u16 bolts team does the remainder of year.

If you take off umass, uml and NE the list is not very impressive except for the top half dozen. College coaches are committing earlier and earlier, look for commitments to start happening soph year, the college coach will tell u want he wants u to do. If you initiate the call u can talk to a coach any time u want, if I want a true assessment. Some parents would rather write a check and dream though.

DAP does make it easy for college coaches. When it comes to MA (and NH) at the U16 and below age groups there really is only one DAP club and that is the Revs. If coaches wanted to recruit players out of MA they would probably find equally as good players from the 97/98 top club teams vs what they will find at Bolts and Seacoast. But I doubt that the D1 coaches will do the work to check out those players.
