A new player at the last game? Which sorry ass club did he leave to join NU? Please tell us.

What do you mean? 9 yr old? Did you see their roster? Were they really missing players?

That was the Stars U10 that lost in the Finals. Thier 03/04 United team. They finished first in the 4th Flight of U11 NEP, but had a whopping Goal Diff. I'm assuming they will move up one or two flights to have more competitive games in the Spring Season.

            Wow--that sounds promising.

I like the rabbit and the turtle reference! Exactly! Just keep working hard in practice, the soccer will develop.
In all my years associated with club soccer I've seen this "just keep working hard" theory work once, ONCE! It's a shame, but it's true, genetics, birth date and athletic ability play a major role in athletic success.

If you're the turtle, and you work really hard, you may make the team but you won't start.

The thing that bothers me the most is the commitment to team and task that the turtles bring to the equation. They are the ones at every practice. They are the first to sign up for extra sessions. They simply want to improve. The rabbits play hockey, basketball and lacrosse and are never fully engaged. The coaches want all the rabbits they can get, though.

We already applied to Aztecs Cup, 5x times more points then that low ranked stupid Stars Cup. Will get 2500 points after beating some crappy second rated teams. Yahhoooooooo!!!!!!!!!.

This is very interesting. Thanks for this insight. I also think that there are some teams acting like rabbits and some teams that are more like turtles. The turtle teams are the ones that the rabbit teams will be ill-prepared for because they come out of nowhere.

I think the Scorpions "talented" players should join NU. NU seems to be short players and the Scorpions record is not going to be motivation enough for the good players to stay around. Losing too much is demoralizing for kids at this age.

You keep thinking, or just imagine driving 3 times a week to Newton in all that traffic on I-90 and 128. That is crazy. There are many other good clubs on South Shore.

NU lacks depth, needs your help.

it really does boggle the mind that newton residents actually have time to play soccer with their hebrew school (sunday ams!), piano lessons, math schools, dance lessons and whatever else these kids have to be subjected to every day by their overachieving, overbearing parents

Some of the kids go to Madrasa school too, and some of the parents who mention NU every 5 sec needs to visit Bridgewater State hospital for treatments .

If you live in Dedham, Westwood, Norwood or Canton the trip isn't bad. Even Quincy and Milton aren't bad because of the accessibility to the Pike. If you live south of Braintree you would be nuts to even consider it. Look at PTUSA in that case.

Scorpions have been competitive in all of their games this season. The training is good and the cost is reasonable. Only reason for leaving I can see would be the coaching style.
