You are a bit silly.... Playing a scrimmage is not a solution and it's not really about the league. They play who they play and that's it but why do you suggest a Maple team?

That doesn't sound unreasonable to me?

On first part of the original email I do agree that playing up does open up some opportunity for kids to get hurt. It's OK at younger age group but once you start getting up into the U12 age group there can be a big difference in size.
I don't believe "Nefc" said anything. It's was suggested by someone that this team play up at the risk of getting hurt perhaps on purpose. What did I miss?

At this age, the U12's are too big and if they get into a game with aggressive players who are p*ssed that they are getting beaten by a younger team, the boys can really get hurt and they get out of their game. Set up a scrimmage with Valeo.
The above poster is referring to this I think. Yes he did miss something. The ability to read and understand.

It was probably just a suggestion that there are good teams that NEFC hasn't played recently. Jees, paranoid much? Whatever.
Let's change the subject before this poster blows a gasket and has us all arrested for silliness.

I suggested playing up to help with their development. Winning games easily and not being challenge for a full 60 mins is not going to improve them. Winning 5-1 at half-time does not make a competitive development environment for the team winning. They did not play well during the second half because the game was already done. Different game if it was 2-1, or 1-0, they need to remain focused, and need to be sharp with their decisions and technical abilities. Yes, WU played better the second half, but if NEFC scored again to make 6-1 they did hit the post twice winning 5-1, the game turns into a blow out. You can disagree but if want to development players they need to be playing competitive games every weekend, not just 20 mins during a game that was already over 20 Mins from the kick off!

Good question, last year 15 solid u10, very few holes. Good enough to go undefeated this fall but they did not amaze you. Did anything change? Did the kids who we're playing up start playing at their age or did they pick up some fast exceptional athletes?

You are correct about the first 15-20 min. But if WU finish the chance they have in front of the net when it was 3-1 then the game is 3-2 and the goal that immediately followed that mis never happens. You are putting too much into how great you think your team is and underestimating how flat WU was to start the match. Not to take anything away from the NEFC team but WU has played and beaten better teams then NEFC. Was NEFC overall better than WU this day...yes. It is just that but don't get too ahead of yourself. Even in defeat WU overall showed more confidence on the ball playing 1 on 1. It feel it is easier to teach players to knock the ball ball around in patterns such as what NEFC displayed then to teach players to make there own decisions and be supremely confident on the ball such as WU is. I know they are too different developmental philosophies. As WU's new players learn this team will just continue to get stronger and stronger. We will see in a few years who truly develops the better players with confidence on the ball. NEFC was a good team with some talent and will continue to recruit from a much larger pool then WU has access to but don't under estimate what WU has done and will continue to do.

The current NEFC Central has gone undefeated for 2 months. That is a good thing for the rest of the teams. When you lose, you identify weaknesses, new strengths, new lesson plans for practice. It does not mean that NEFC Central is going to dominate from here on in. I guarantee they won't.

Our team is looking forward to playing them again.

At least the loss by Valeo will end the silliness about who is better, NU or Valeo. I think NU might be the #2 team in the state. Only NEFC stands a chance.

Newton United should play Western United Pioneers. Any chance for you guys to get together for a scrimmage? Your teams actually play similarly--lots of footwork by smaller players.

Unless there are head to head matchups it's hard to say. WU and NU haven't played each other and Valeo hasn't played either of them so really can't come to any real conclusions on relative strength until that happens. This top group has shown to be above most other teams in this age group. Everyone points to the competition being diluted. I do believe there are a couple of higher level teams in both NEP and MAPLE at this age group. There are also a lot of teams right behind them and 6 months makes a big difference at this age group. Kids grow, develop more skills etc. It could all change by Spring!
