Reports
Hey,
So, I find in soccer the score doesn't tell the whole story...what really helps is getting some additional color. If we can report on games without getting negative...that would be ideal. For example, "my team lost 3-2, but they really should've won. The ref missed two offside calls, and the kid on their team got a lucky goal"...that doesn't help too much. A better report would be "It was back and forth action, and felt like it really could have gone either way. We probably had possession 65% of the time, but they capitalized on their opportunities and in the end, pulled it out. We were missing our goalie today, and that definitely made a difference...but for the teams that were on the field, they got the better of us today".
One thing about soccer, especially at this age...a bounce or two can change the outcomes of these games pretty easily. So a 2-1 loss is one thing. A 2-1 loss where the losing team controls the ball 70% of the time, and outshoots their opponents 20-5 tells a very different story. The more color the better...

Scorpions Report...
Scorpions had a tie and a loss today.
First game was against the Central Mass Bolts. The game was actually pretty even in the first half, both teams had their chances. The Scorpions took a 2-0 lead into the half after a couple nice individual efforts, but the score could have been 4-0 Scorpions, or just as easily 3-2 Bolts, given the opportunities. In the 2nd half, the Bolts got one back on a messy defensive play, and then tied it on a very nice left-footed goal from some distance. Scorpions put on some pressure at the end...and were called offsides twice, much to the chagrin of the Scorpions parents standing even with the back line. In the end, the Bolts held on for the tie. A well-played game by both sides.
In game 2, the Scorpions took an early lead on the heavily favored Western United squad, and remained tied through halftime. In the 2nd half, Western's quality began to take hold and they found some holes in the Scorpions defense. Western U has a few VERY good players, and they rose to the occasion when it mattered. They increased their lead to 4-1, before the Scorpions found a way to break through for their 2nd. Final 2-4. Overall, Western U probably showed a little higher quality than this Scorpions team, but for 95% of this game, it was a very even match.

Should we take MPS Bulldog Elite off the top 10 list??
They lost to Sachems today. How do the MPS parents feel about that?....losing to a glorified town team.

4 Maple Green games reported so far. 4 blow outs. So much for making blue and green competative. Good call on 12 team divisions Maple, that's really helping the cause.

I imagine that you are with the NEP. You don't actually understand how MAPLE U11 works. In the fall, the teams are placed almost at random into all the divisions from which the top 2 or 3 help to form two first divisions in the Spring. In other words there are no top divisions in the Fall of U11.
U12 is another story as teams decide whether or not to play 8 v 8 or 11 v 11. In other words the top teams will be spread out over at least 2 divisions until U13 when all are playing 11 v 11.
