I think the real question is whether the roster that took the field at the Stars tournament only had players that will be on the NEFC Central team in NEP this year, or if there were a few visitors....just trying to see how good of a team they are expected to be in NEP.

Third, there's nothing ridiculous about this thread. It's not a thread to determine the best developmental club in mass, it's an attempt to give us all a feel for the better teams in the U11 age bracket so when we see match-ups throughout the year, maybe we'll have a better feel for the teams involved. I don't think your negativity is adding anything to the conversation.
You're missing the point, no surprise. Parents in this age group are obviously delusional about what any of this means at U11. "Better" teams at U11 are hardly determined by wins and losses and goal differential. One early maturing kid can make all the difference at this age. From what I've seen in other threads this group doesn't really care to take advice from people who have been there before. So be it.

Except for missing players who made the team via the tryout process .... It's the same team

That's great, thanks. They'll be fun to watch this year.

I think one of the problems with the point you are making is that you're assuming every parent interested in this thread expects their kid to be a division 1 player some day and that's what this is all about. You also seem to be insinuating that we're trying to figure out which team will eventually be better (after they've all matured and reached their ultimate size and shape). This thread is not about that. It's abouthow these teams, currently assembled, with kids in different stages of development, are playing as teams, right now, and for this year...that's it. Just a fun conversation to help everyone see the lay of the land in u11-ville.

So, maybe some over-zealous parents can heed your warnings and avoid being disappointed like you obviously have been, but the rest of us can just enjoy the conversation as adults.

Top 2 Teams (not necessarily in order):
              NEFC Central
              Western United

              3rd and 4th:
              Valeo
              Newton United

              5th and 6th:
              Scorpions
              MPS Bulldogs Elite

              Best of the Rest:
              Boston Bolts
              PTUSA FC Coastal Impact
              Aztecs

Your ranking system seems to be based on teams being in the top bracket at Stars Cup with WU thrown in. So teams that cant win a game in that division are somehow still in the top 5 in the state? And while 4 of your top 6 teams are NEP you have a teám that finished 5th in Maple Green as the 4th best in the state. You are delusional. BTW, there is no transitive property of soccer.

Actually what I have seen is that the kids that dominate U10 and into U11 are the kids that are much smaller than average. Their lateral movement is much better. The bigger boys are clumsy due to growth spurts.

Now putting Messi aside, at U12 and U13 size starts to matter. Getting tackled by a boy that is 30-40 lbs heavier and is just as fast or faster than a smaller boy tends to hurt. The bigger boys suddenly start to realize they have an advantage and start to use it.

They're been some significant changes to the squad that finished 5th in maple last year.

NEFC Central is the same team as last year only adding 2 new players. (12 players Total) They only had 9 players this weekend and to play the way they did we should be proud they beat the NY team in the Finals.

Valeo, please get over yourself and accept that someday Valeo and NU will be playing together. Grow up and cheer for them in Green while they cheer for you in Blue. Remember, this is about YOUR kid's development, not some U11 team whose players you will likely never see again. YOUR kid needs to play with the best players possible for optimal development. Take the opportunities that come your way.

Your kid doesn't need to play with the best players possible to develop.

Your kid DOES need to be self motivated.

Your kid DOES need to work on his/her first touch.

Your kid DOES need to juggle every day.

Your kid DOES need to keep, and get comfortable with, a ball at their feet at all times.

Your kid needs to love the game more than you want him/her to.

Stop chasing teams and trophies and let your child settle into a comfortable place that suits their development.

Yes, this works for recreational soccer. However, soccer is a team sport. And at this age, they better already be comfortable with the ball at their feet to play club. Your child may be comfortable being the star player on a mediocre team but if he wants to play at a higher level, he must play with skilled and better players to develop. I don't agree that they need to juggle every day. They need to practice passing with skilled players. They need to be able to keep up with fast players. They need to be able to shoot around skilled defenders. Motivation comes from striving to be better than the best. But you do it your way. We will do it ours. Good luck.
