    Why Scorpions and MPS?

Probably because both teams were in the top division, of the top tournament in the State this past weekend...and although neither got a W, they tied one another, got blown away by an out of State team that is undeniably talented, and were within a goal of Valeo, who is listed as 3rd in these MA rankings (Scorpions were within a goal, MPS was not).

There's an argument going back and forth that Valeo should have beaten Scorpion by more if the goal posts were a little wider...but it's tough to rank on woulda, shoulda coulda....so a one goal loss seems to warrant Scorpions inclusion. I guess the tie between MPS and Scorpions gives MPS the benefit of the doubt. We'll see when the games start, either Valeo is really 4 or 5 goals better than Scorpions, or Scorpions is really better than MPS, OR MPS had an off game against Valeo...so much to figure out!

Because it's pre-season and one tournament isn't a large sample size.

I'll add in the MPS Cavaliers given the results reference by an earlier poster. One poster thought NU should be higher than Valeo, while another thought NU shouldn't even be in the mix, I think for now they are both seeded properly. WU did not participate in Stars, but they were very very strong last year, and deserve one of the top spots until proven otherwise.

Update below, and now we wait for the games...

        Tier 1:
        NEFC Central
        Western United

        Tier 2:
        Valeo
        Newton United

        Tier 3:
        Scorpions
        MPS Bulldogs Elite

        Best of the Rest:
        MPS Cavaliers
        Boston Bolts
        PTUSA FC Coastal Impact
        Aztecs
        Very subjective indeed.

Not trying to stir up controversy or take away anything from their performance, just wondering if that NEFC Central team really is that good...or if it was more a mix of some of their better players across a few teams.
It was definitely a mix. Also had the biggest 10 yr old --ever. They are a big club and have many boys from which to draw from. Teams from Long Island as well. LI youth soccer is HUGE. Albertson has a very large pool of kids to choose from. Take the top from Valeo, NU, MPS, Scorps and you have a superstar team that would crush too. Only so many to go around with all the clubs.

Also WU just ...because. Ok so we shall see. Good luck to the privileged few who are listed.

Wait, NEFC Central was not really NEFC Central but an NEFC all-star team? I thought only MPS tried to pull this crap.

Not an all star team and BTW...players were missing. I know the player you are talking about and he is the proper age. Because someone gives you the answer you want does not mean its true.

Good, nice to see NEFC Central beat a very talented Albertson team. Some serious bragging rights and good for MA soccer.

Sorry but WU is not in the same class. 3-2 versus Hammer. Seriously? No wonder they posted scores from last March.

It's unfortunate that the top 5 or 6 teams will only play a couple teams this year. 36 'Premiership' teams in NEP and Maple. Really stupid dilution.

Of course he is the right age. Still, very big kid.

Well you did make up the part about it not being a NEFC Central team, no?

Wow. Why the hate for WU? Have ever seen them play? Were you at any of the matches they played this weekend or are you just making an asumption based on final scores?

No the boys looked to be a different mix of boys.

This thread is so ridiculous. All these clubs and parents talk about development and how it is more important than wins. But when it all comes down to it we are apparently judging 10 year olds based on wins and goal differential at one tournament. Give me a break. Half your kids will quit before HS.

I hope your kids are having fun. Not fun because mom and dad can't stop stalking about how their team is as good as Barcelona, but actual fun with friends playing a child's game.

First off, why would ranking teams have any effect on our kids enjoyment of the game? Second, I haven't heard anyone on here claim their kid is going pro, or college, so why do you need to predict the demise of their soccer careers? How fun is that? Third, there's nothing ridiculous about this thread. It's not a thread to determine the best developmental club in mass, it's an attempt to give us all a feel for the better teams in the U11 age bracket so when we see match-ups throughout the year, maybe we'll have a better feel for the teams involved. I don't think your negativity is adding anything to the conversation.

I am sure you are aware that this (like most other teams) team is a post tryout team. Therefore, some players did not make the current team, new players made the team and players from 2012-13 made the team again. So yes, you are correct it IS a different mix of boys.
