    Parents Gone Wild--Valeo Style

Spectators at a Stars Cup game Sunday morning were treated to watching a Valeo dad (or grandfather), a little heavy-set, grey haired, and wearing thick black-rimmed glasses have a total melt down when a ref politely but repeatedly asked the adult to back of the side line so the players wouldn't trip over him. Rather than simply comply with the ref's request and move back, the adult heckled the ref, taunted the ref, and then swore at the ref before being instructed to leave the field. Other Valeo adults joined in muttering at the ref and waving their hands at him is disrespect. The behavior was unnecessary and just plain inappropriate for youth sports. Kids were watching. Tone it down, or stay away from the field.

Really? Is that your best attempt? I was there and watched the whole entire match. None of that actually occurred. Nice try though.

Well then you are in denial. Let's hope EW cleans up his team managers act.

I am guessing this sore loser parent couldn't take watching his son's team lose 9-2. He also probably got frustrated because Valeo played Barcelona style soccer, and his son's team touched the ball about 3 times through out the entire game.

After seeing Valeo win the finals 2-0 against the other team, this parent ran home and started making up stories.

          Shame...
          but highly expected.

You have the wrong Valeo team, it was the U11 Barcelona team where the manager got tossed v. Scorpions this A. M.

Most of above was fabricated by Scorp parent who could not have possibly heard the conversation. There was no taunting or swearing or hand waving by other parents. The man simply pointed out that he was standing further away than most of Scopian parent chairs that could injure the players (which was true). Ref didnt want to hear it and he was asked to leave the sideline. Not a word from other Valeo parents.

Plus that ref was very anal about his sideline.

Most interesting that you thought this scenario could have played out on yet another Valeo team. Doesn't say much for the Valeo sideline.

That was a Valeo Team Manager that was behaving like that? Wow! That's even worse. It was quite a show--he even used an umbrella as a prop.

We watched several games, or attempted too, where parents where standing on the touch line. So if the ball went toward the corner we were blocked from seeing the play. Asking the parents to move back would work for about a minute (and they were aghast that they were asked to move). Do people believe they cant see the game if they stand back another 5 feet? Cheers to the ref. Good job.

Not at all. Just figured with Valeo winning the finals, the hater parents would soon come out.
