Wonder how the Stars will respond. They have been completely against a second sport.

I know plenty of girls on my daughter's club team that also enjoy basketball, but in the past have worried that schedules would inevitably collide, and so tended to shy away from making any commitments to things like AAU. Cross training different sports offers known benefits, and is enjoyable too. Seems like a good idea and hope it works out for them.

This comment clearly comes from someone who hasn't seen many AAU tournaments.

It could work as long as players (parents) don't want to compete to qualify for state/national tournaments. If they just do AAU tourneys for fun, it could work.

$ yes, but also a way to address a real issue. Many players miss games due to AAU tourneys so if the club can control the schedule and attract multi-sport athletes, good for them.

This same thing was offered at the same time last year...and this same thread can be found in the archives. Did Scorps follow through and have a ball team this year , or is this more pre- tryout hype?

'Hype' has become the most hyped word on TS.

This is not try-out hype IMO. Scorpions tried to do this last year becasue a lot of Scorpions players also play AAU basketball and were trying to get them to do both. I actually thought this was a great idea if done right to allow players to play two sports with not much conflict.

Did they really tryptophan make this a reality, or was it offered and then nothing much after that?

That is my recollection, and BTW, I also think this is a nice option. My question continues to be, will they really make this happen or is it a draw for the club at tryout time...that will once again not happen?
