Top 150 girls soccer player rankings

The TD list is far from perfect, but it is no scam. Nobody is paying for ratings - this is more TS conspiracy nonsense. The list isn't well researched but the vast majority of the best players are on it.

The vast majority of the top 150 is based on appearances at YNT camps, Regional Pools, and ECNL id2 events. If you think people are paying to get ranked #8 in the Northeast you are out of your mind. Once you get past the top 20, the next 75 are probably all about equal, and same for the next 200.

Coaches pay no attention to these lists except in the context of looking at the same lists (YNT, etc) that TDS is looking at.

I am a parent with a daughter in the class of 2016. I know the class fairly well and can safely say that the TopDrawer rankings are not accurate at all. Here are a couple of obvious misses in that class, they are just not from non ECNL teams either:

CW, she plays for Stars. She has been in the regional pool for several years and went to Boca last year and was on the '97 Costa Rica trip last year. She should easily be ranked the top defender in the region if not in the top 5-6 players.
JB, believe she plays for Scorpions. She's a regional pool player that is not on the list.
PC, she plays for Stars. She is another regional pool player not on the list.
JH, she also plays for Stars. She is yet another regional pool player not on the list.
AA, she plays for Stars also. She is a well respected former regional pool player not on the list
AG, she plays for NEFC. She has been in the regional pool for several years and went on the '97 Costa Rica trip last year. She should be ranked amongst the top 10 players in the region.
KZ, she plays for Aztec. She has been in the regional pool for several years and went to both Boca this year and on the '98 Costa Rica trip this year. She absolutely should be ranked amongst the top 5-6 players in the region.

These kids are the real deal that the college coaches will definitely be paying attention to in the near future, if not already. Their misidentification or absence completely invalidates the list.

So as long as you play or played Odp you should be on the list? Some of those girls are decent players but a few definately should not be considered at all!

Most of the players on that 2016 regional list are there because their club pushed their names not because they have proved they were noteworthy soccer players on the soccer field. Making a national pool or the regional team to play down in Boca or on one of the international trips does mean that you have accomplished something on a soccer field. The fact that KZ is not even on the list is surprising. She is borderline national pool talent.

Their absence doesn't completely invalidate the list. Yes, I will give you that there are definitely players out there who probably belong on the list but are not on it. And I am not sure how you rank a keeper against a midfielder and determine which one gets ranked higher. Can't we all just agree that some players are missing and some are ranked incorrectly but most likely those on the list are great players. One college coach may go watch #54 and #89 and think #89 is better than #54 and another coach may think #54 should be ranked #10. There will always be differences opinion and players can have off games and if that is the only game you see then your opinion is off.

KB was in the U14 national pool. BH was with the U17 national pool. Those two along with KZ, CW, JG, AG have to be considered the best in the class of 2016. Every single one of them was identified early and have all been on just about everyone's list of "best" players around here since before they started with ODP. The fact that two of them are not even on TD's ranking speaks volumes about how inaccurate those rankings are. That should also raise questions about how players DO get put on the rankings. When you are selling "premium" listings and "combines" that openly advertise the benefit of evaluating players specifically for these rankings there is no way anyone should consider the rankings legit. The only ones that do are naïve and probably do pay for a premium listing and probably will attend one of the combines. You can bet these are the same parents who proudly boast about their kids ranking as well. It is all normal in pay to play soccer.

We have the exact same allegations of bias and politics, with the core ECNL hatred, and then proof in those very posts that the logic makes no sense. IF the logic did make sense, then the Stars (multiple) and the Scorps players would be on the list. That doesn't mean the list should be given much credence, but not for the usual reasons cited. And go look at any similar list for basketball or football. You're not going to see more than 2-3 Mass kids on those lists either unless they are transplants from other states at prep schools that specialize in recruited athletes.

No, it is far, far better to minimize this sort of hypocrisy so dreamy eyed soccer parents will keep throwing their money away. Of course the ECNL has all the players on the list, otherwise there would some splaining to do!
